Re: The Righteous Brothers

Did I say The Righteous Brothers were their only influence? Simon and Garfunkel were also influenced by the production and sound of those Righteous Brothers records. In a New York Post interview Art...

Re: The Righteous Brothers

I disagree, Sir.

Gone With The Wind is outdated and it doesn't interest anyone anymore besides some art students. Very old Elvis is maybe listened by some hillibillies and old timers. The 68-77...

Re: The Righteous Brothers

Those are just really old rock'n'roll myths. That so called Golden Age of rock'n'roll isn't worth anything these days. Everyone knows they were important as a cultural phenomenon, but the pure...

Re: The Righteous Brothers

I've been expecting you Mr. Holly.

The Everlys were popular during a time when there were only about three artists around. In other words during the weak era in the late 50's. They probably still...

The Righteous Brothers

I don't care about 60's music all that much, but I have to say The Righteous Brothers had some of the most beautiful soul songs ever made. You've lost that loving feeling and Unchained Melody are the...

Re: Who is the greatest player to have never won a slam?

To be quite honest that AO '98 final from Rios was one of the shittiest performances ever. Even Tarango or Braasch would have won 3-0 against Rios on that day. I still can't understand how was it...

Re: Who is the greatest player to have never won a slam?

One of the most easiest questions there is.

Rios. Hands down.

It's just ridiculous how talented the guy was. Too bad he had issues with his back, he could have been so much more.

Re: Rafael Nadal: Tennis must protect clay surface

Nadal is kind of right. We do need clay, but the clay season is quite right as it is. Obviously there should be more tournaments on grass. Grass is the toughest surface and the most intriguing one....

Re: Tennis court colors

Murray and Roddick were supposed to play on a white court in Miami in December 2012. But I guess it never happened?

Re: Why does Nike insist on putting Nadal in pink? He never wins wearing pink

It's not about pink, it's about him losing his hair. Samson had the same problem. Nike should have a good brainstorming session and come up with a solution for that. A pink wig isn't out of the...

Re: "Speed up the courts and general court speed Thread"

Yes, apparently Wilson AO or US open balls. Wilson AO would make it even heavier.

Re: "Speed up the courts and general court speed Thread"

These Acapulco courts are probably the same ultra slow Plexipaves they use in IW, but now with the humidity it's just getting ridiculous.

Re: "Speed up the courts and general court speed Thread"

Players like Federer, Murray, Fish and Haas have all said the courts have been slowed down. Those guys actually play/played on the circuit. I'll take their word for it.

Carpet injury prone? That's...

Re: "Speed up the courts and general court speed Thread"

90's carpet courts would change all that. No myth there.

Re: "Speed up the courts and general court speed Thread"

Dubai has always been fast. Hard to tell so far this year. Serve stats are quite lame, but the pace still seems quite nice.

Re: The worst tennis commentator EVER to commentate on a tennis match - Kevin Skimmer

Tennis TV should do the biggest deal in broadcasting history and hire Jim Nantz and Al Michaels. The two deepest voices in American sports history. They probably don't know much about tennis, but...

Re: The worst tennis commentator EVER to commentate on a tennis match - Kevin Skimmer

Well, he's pretty damn close. Bradnam talks and laughs way too much and yet he really has nothing to say. I swear if Skinner and Bradnam would replace Koenig and Goodall I would jump off a bridge.

Re: The worst tennis commentator EVER to commentate on a tennis match - Kevin Skimmer

Skinner is really, really bad.

But Chris Bradnam gives him a pretty good run for his money. Those two are by far the worst. And Bradnam actually commentates on huge Grand Slam matches and finals.

Re: Useless quiz question

Yes, that's the original thread.

Altur was the one I didn't find by myself. You seem to know your stuff. In which ATP semi-final did the winner have a first service-% of 98?

Useless quiz question

There was a thread with useless but interesting tennis questions, but I can't find it anymore.

Anyway, I asked in the Souza-Vanni thread if there have been players who have reached their first final...

Re: Sao Paulo SF: (Q) Vanni def. (WC) Souza 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 6-4

Hewitt had played AO '97, so he had only one tournament before his Adelaide win in '98. Players like Tieleman, Nishikori, Krickstein had already played many ATP tournaments when they reached their...

Artem Sitak-Travel schedule?

I was just wondering how rough the travelling must be. Let's take Artem Sitak for example. Of course it could be any player, but his schedule caught my eye.

Sitak played and won the the Montpellier...

Re: Roger Federer to play Istanbul Cup

Does this kind of thing actually help a tournament? The prize money is about 500.000 and they probably pay Fed about a million. They will sell more tickets, but does the tournament even break even?...

Re: ATP Valencia 250. Spaniards to sell their ATP500 rights [status] to ATP Vienna

Quite interesting. There was a program guide on the Eurosport website and ATP Vienna was listed as one of their tournaments this year. Obviously if it becomes an ATP 500 event, that should be a...
