Only hope to see Clayray 2.0 appear now is if Nole gets tight when the end is in sight and clowns the 4th set away or if Murrain puts in an appearance

Re: WWW 2016 Roland Garros [May 16 - Jun 5] and Discussion (Main Draw in Post #1)

I think this FO is the closest since the rise of Nadal. I consider all of the top 4 seeds to have a decent chance and none to be absolute favourite.

Re: Cumulative Weeks In Top 10 (Active Players)

Updated through to the endof the Australian Open. Hewitt and Soderling have now both officially retired so they drop off the list. Federer also got to 700 and Murray to 400.

Player Country First...

Re: 2016 Live Commentary Thread vol. 2

I don't think I've ever seen Raonic execute a gameplan as well as this. Perfect tennis for this opponent.

Re: 2016 Live Commentary Thread vol. 2

If Wawrinka wins this set it leaves David Pics Ferrer as the only player not to have dropped a set so far in this tournament

Re: 2016 Live Commentary Thread vol. 2

Djokovic almost looks like he's spot-fixing points...

(Disclaimer: Which of course he isn't)

Re: Australian Open R1: Bolelli defeats Baker 7-6(6) 7-6(3) 6-7(2) 7-6(5)

To go from not playing for 3 (?) years to winning a set against a good player like Bolelli is an astonishing achievement. There aren;t many who come come back after so long away and immediately be at...

Re: Australian Open R1 WWW: Murray(2) vs Zverev

There will come a time when Zverev beats Murray.

This is not that time.

Re: Not every grand slam victory is equal

Even Nadal's 2008 RG run wasn't quite as impressive as Borg's 1978 RG run in absolute numbers:

Rafael Nadal – French Open, 2008

1R defeated Thomaz Bellucci 7-5, 6-3, 6-1
2R defeated Nicolas...

Re: Who can truly stop Djokovic from finishing 2016 #1?

My gut instinct is no-one, unless Nole gets injured or sick. No-one else is as consistently dominant over all the other players except for Federer maybe, whose age and family life mean he doesn;t...

Not every grand slam victory is equal

At least, not in terms of the amount of games played to take away the trophy! :) From some statistics I compiled today:

- The most games played to win a grand slam tournament in the open era is...

Re: Race to 100 Bagels!

Race to 100 Bagels!

Hey! I just updated my stats threads and thought I'd share something which might be of interest to the general forum.

I've been keeping statistics on bagels since 2010. I have a spreadsheet which...

Re: Strongest and Weakest Year End Top Tens of the Past 10 Years

I looked at 2009 and was suprised by how beastly the list looked - the kind of top 10 where any could challenge any of the others on any given day!

To me 2015 looks the second strongest on paper -...

Re: Bagel Hall of Fame & Bagel Hall of Shame (active players)

Finally updated through the 2015 season!

No new additions to the Hall of Fame. Indeed, Tipsarevic and Volandri remain the closest contenders with 28 bagels each (next followed by Kohlschreiber...

Re: Would the rankings change much with allowing a 3rd serve?

I think players like Murray would be beneficiaries.

1)High % of 1st return points won
2)Big difference in % between 1st serve points won and 2nd serve points won

Re: Next New Top Ten Player? (w/ Poll)

Bold prediction: Tomic and Goffin to reach top 10 before Kyrgios or Sock

but

Kyrgios and Sock to win grand slam titles before Tomic or Goffin

Re: Next New Top Ten Player?

It feels as though Goffin could be this generation's Juan Carlos Ferrero - maybe not quite as talented but he certainly hasn't hit his ceiling yet.
