Re: Was Hewitt's AO 2005 run the most memorable GS run for a slam finalist?

I agree, 2005 is one of the best season I can remember. Of course it was the year the rivalry between Nadal and Federer starts. But it also was a year Federer (all the year) and his main rivals...

Re: AO R3 : Federer def. Dimitrov 6-4 3-6 6-1 6-4

300 GS wins is an unbelievable stat!

By comparaion, Connors got 233.
Djokovic has 209 matches won, Nadal 198, Murray 155.

Re: AO R1: Cilic def. DeBakker 6-7(4-7), 7-5, 6-2, 6-4

Damn

But Thiemo would've find a way to lose in 5...

A pity again because the draw would've been open after this match...

Re: AO R1: Quentin Halys def. Ivan Dodig 6-4 6-7(4) 6-4 7-5

Halys won the match on a 49 stokes rally which ended with a BH error of Dodig!

Very good win and start of the year for him, I hope a nice showing against Novak.

Re: Leading 3-0 by H2H not being favourite in each of matches!

Llodra is 5-0 against Simon while outside their first meeting in 2005, he probably never was the favorite of their matches.

Re: Best Rivalry? Federer-Djokovic, Djokovic-Nadal, or Nadal-Federer?

Federer-Nadal and it's not even close.

The was the perfect opposition of styles.

Djokovic-Nadal is a very interseting rivalry with up and down for the two players (the period from 2011 to 2014...

Re: Sydney Final: Troicki def. Dimitrov 2-6, 6-1, 7-6(7)

Dimitrov missed so much in the key moments. He missed so many passing with his BH which were not that difficult. He also missed 2/3 easy FHs in the TB... And so many BPs wasted...

Re: Sydney Final: Troicki def. Dimitrov 2-6, 6-1, 7-6(7)

What a third set! Great battle from both, it was a very exciting match to follow!

Despite it was so close, you could feel that Dimitrov was going to lose beause Troicki always showed more heart,...

Re: AO 1QR: Janvier def. Chazal, 6-3 5-7 15-13 [5 MP saved]

Nice effort from both guys.
Terrible for Chazal who had a MP at 13-12 just before being broken!

Re: AO Qualifying

Janvier def Chazal 15-13 in the third saving 5 MPs in the process!! Chazal was the first to serve in the last set, he has one MP at 13-12 just before being broken!

Re: US F2 Q1: Rajko MLADENOVIC def Brian BAKER 7-5 0-6 ret.

Well, we're talking about a qualy match in a future... not even a FQR. It's not a big deal... No points and no gambling were involved.

Re: Week 03: Manila, Philippines [Entry List]

Excellent decision to have a challenger in the Philippines!
Maybe a new Mamiit is coming ;)

For the tournament, the perfect schedule would be week 04, so the beaten players of the first rounds...

Re: Doha SF: (1) Djokovic def (3) Berdych 6-3 7-6 (7-3)

I was not impressed with the performance of Novak this evening. Way too passive in my opinion, though he played a good TB at the end. He missed a lot of easy points, and more surprising for me, alos...

Re: Liking Disliked Players at their Last Years

Agassi would be my first pick.
I was not a fan of him, but I really root for him during the USO 2005!

I also never was a fan of Hewitt either, but I start to like his fighting spirit when he...

Re: Who is the best 2 Time Slam Winner of the Past 20 Years?

Safin is not overrated in my opinion. He won two slams, but with memorable wins. That counts a lot in tennis, there is not only achivements.
His battle against Federer in AO 2005 is one of the...

Re: Tako Suzuki vs Roger Federer (Japan Open 2006) -- Did anyone tape this match?

Actually, that year Suzuki was injured. If I remember well, Tokyo was his comeback tournament, he had not play at all that year (maybe one tournament?)
I didn't see that match, but as mentionned,...

Re: Thiemo de Bakker... Finding his way?? Finally...

Thiemo made a decent start of the year, until his final in Bordeaux despite some bad losses right and left. Then he lost the plot.
But with those two weeks, he's doing a pretty decent year.
When I...

Re: Thiemo de Bakker cheering thread

Thiemo in a SF of a challenger this week. Deserved to be mention as he had a bad second part of the year.
I guess the fresh air of Las Vegas is good for his motivation ;)

Re: Stockholm SF: Jack Sock demolishes Richard Gasquet 6-4, 6-2

To be honest, Gasquet was mostly awful and unmotivated today. At the beginning of the match, I was even wondering if he was injured
Gasquet also tanks at 1-3 down in the second set.
