Re: USO 2015, God Bless 'Murica.

Did anyone see the interview with Federer on ESPN tonight? I heard him say something about going to a movie with his family and bawling at it, but I missed what movie it was.

Re: US Open introducing mid-match interviews with players?

I was kind of in shock when I saw them interviewing Vandeweghe after her first set. I can't believe anyone would agree to it. But if they do, I guess I don't really have a problem with it.

Re: Federer's new service box return strategy?

But we don't really see that many styles of play. The vast majority of points are played from the baseline.

There's no surface that suits every type of player. That's why it's nice to have a...

Re: Simona Halep: "I don't watch players. Only Federer."

Agreed. I keep hoping that another Justine Henin will come along in the women's game. Halep has speed, but she doesn't have the variety, and she's terrible at net.

Re: Federer's new service box return strategy?

You're saying that slow courts "allow every style of player to display their full skills." And my point is that if that were true, we'd see players serve and volleying all the time, instead of once...

When are they going to stop inviting Bouchard to these things?

Re: Federer's new service box return strategy?

There are no true serve and volleyers anymore. If there were, you'd be busy accusing them of employing dirty tactics.

Re: Simona Halep: "I don't watch players. Only Federer."

 I'd rather watch her than most of the monsters in the WTA. At least she displays some athleticism and isn't just a mindless ball basher.

That must be why we see so many successful serve and volley players these days...

Re: Federer's new service box return strategy?

I don't think I can add anything that the other reasonable posters here haven't already said, but I'd at least like to get a  on record.

Re: Kyrgios has still not apologised to Warwinka

It's not really that outrageous to expect him to apologize in person. That said, I don't see what the point would be since I doubt it would be sincere. I think it's time to let the whole thing go. ...

Re: Did Roger Federer make a big mistake by skipping Montreal?

Are the seeds necessarily set yet? He's only 15 points behind Murray according to the live rankings, so couldn't he get back to no. 2 if he does better than Murray in Cincy?

Re: Cincy draw discussion

This QF match is probably just was Nadal needs to get his confidence back.

Re: Kyrgios says to Wawrinka that Kokkinakis banged his girlfriend.

This is bad news for Kyrgios then, because the Neopolitan ice cream hair isn't doing him any favors.

Not really. It just makes him a punk and a coward.

Re: Kyrgios says to Wawrinka that Kokkinakis banged his girlfriend.

I think it was early in the second set. I'm not sure exactly what the score was.

Re: Kyrgios says to Wawrinka that Kokkinakis banged his girlfriend.

And by the way, who's the girlfriend he's referring to? Or is this just an empty taunt?

It's going to be so satisfying when someone finally punches Kyrgios.

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol. 22

I was coming here to see if anyone had heard that. It sounded something like that to me, except with more profanity.

Re: Paul Annacone "Federer played in a weaker era"

1) People on MTF need to learn that quotation marks should be used only for direct quotations.
2) Every player is a product of his era. Let's not pretend that Djokovic and Nadal haven't benefited...

Re: Greater grasscourt player. Djokovic or Nadal

Obviously Djokovic's third Wimbledon title puts him ahead of Nadal, results-wise, but it's not like either is a great grass courter. They're just two great players who've managed to make their...

Re: How do you rate Olympic gold?

This sounds about right. The importance of an event is determined by how much the players value it. Personally, I'd rate the WTF higher because it theoretically more difficult to win, but if the...
