Re: WWW Wimbledon SF: [3]R.Federer vs [6]M.Raonic

He's only lost one set to Murray since 2013. You should feel more confident.

Re: Wimbledon QF: Federer def. Cilic 6(4)-7 4-6 6-3 7-6(9) 6-3 (saves 3 MPs)

He wasn't even sweating or fatigued-looking in his post-match interview. He may not be that bad.

Re: WWW Wimbledon R4: [3] Roger Federer vs. Steve Johnson

2014 US Open was so frustrating. Even with Cilic in god-mode, there was no excuse for Federer not to capitalize on the opportunity.

Given he was in much better form then, I sadly don't have much...

Re: Wimbledon R3: Querrey def. Djokovic 7-6(6) 6-1 3-6 7-6(5)

I don't see what's wrong with people supporting a player or team once they've really proven something. It's blind support other than that, which makes far less sense.

Re: Wimbledon 2R: [3] Federer d. [Q] Willis, 6–0, 6–3, 6–4

They replayed, and Willis aced out wide.

Re: Nick Bollettieri: "The depth in mens and ladies tennis today is unbelievable"

This isn't a valid argument. The fact that he has coached champions doesn't give him better perspective on the depth of men's and women's tennis today.

Re: WWW: Wimbledon R2: [3]Roger Federer vs [Q]Marcus Willis

If Willis plays in his own, personal God mode, it will be a pathetic result if Federer loses more than 6 games. It would not be inspirational if Willis managed a victory. It would be sad.

Re: Halle 2nd Rnd [1] Federer def. Jaziri 6-3, 7-5

Yeah, he looks very disinterested. No fire or enthusiasm. Just passive like his 2013 self. Possibly worse.

Re: 2016 Live commentary thread vol. 11

This Del Potro match is awesome. Some damn nice rallies and big hitting.

Re: WWW RG SF: [1] Djokovic vs. [13] Thiem

Perhaps you shouldn't root for players simply because of where they happened to be born.

Re: Is Bill Tilden the true GOAT?

I don't really think that's very accurate. The field of players was large enough by the 1910s/1920s that the top players would probably not be very different as the field grew even more. At that...

Re: Is Bill Tilden the true GOAT?

Not only did Tilden master the sport and play at a level never seen before his time, but he knew the game inside out. In fact, his extensive writings (e.g., "Match Play and the Spin of the Ball") are...

Re: Laver: When it comes to GOAT, Djokovic is Federer's equal

This should be a lesson to all: former pros and big names are no less prone to recency bias than anyone else.

Re: AO R1: (3)Roger Federer def. Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-2 6-1 6-2

Love the defense to offense to end the point. Pretty incredible.

Re: Paris R2: [3] Federer def. Seppi 6-1 6-1

Few things more satisfying than the way Federer glides across the court during one of his routines.

Re: WWW Basel F: Federer vs Nadal

I would be extremely surprised if Federer pulls this one out. I simply think at this point there's a mental block that can't be overcome despite how much better Federer is playing.

Re: Live Commentary 2015 Thread vol. 29

Kukushkin's slice is almost as pretty as Federer's.

Re: WWW: US Open Final: [1] Novak Djokovic vs [2] Roger Federer

You do realize he uses this maybe 5 times a match (if at all), don't you? It's not a gameplan.

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol. 25

I feel like the ball is moving really slowly through the air in this Fed-Kohl match.
