Re: Current American with the most aesthetically pleasing game?

Donald overall, but Isner and Rampras are very smooth on serve. Say what you want about Isner, he has a great serve motion, smoother than Ivo even if result is similar.

Re: Was Mardy Fish the American with most aesthetically pleasing game?

Another vote for Blake's game generally. But Fish had the smoothest serve -- nice and fluid, and very effective.

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol. 25

Feli earned some respect with those comments -- well said. Come to think of it, Feli's never engaged in cheap tactics in a match that I can think of, so maybe he's been a classy guy all along under...

Re: US Open R1: Young def. [11] Simon 2-6 4-6 6-4 6-4 6-4

Congratulations to DY for a great victory! Came back from two sets down. Epic.

Re: Does Djokovic now have the easiest route ever to the final of a Grand Slam?

Here's a prediction re Djokovic route and the result -- Nadal has a miraculous recovery of form and defeats Djoker in the QF, then loses to Fed in the final. Cue music from the movie "Hoosiers."

Re: Federer & Murray fans, would you swap your man's season for Wawrinka's?

I'm not so certain Wawrinka's season wouldn't be the better choice, at least so far. A French Open win for Murray or another one for Fed would be quite a statement.

Re: Cincinnati R2: R.Gasquet def. T.Kokkinakis 7-6[5] 6-2

I imagine Gasquet's game is confusing to younger players who rarely face anyone who plays as he does -- one-hand backhand as his big shot, spinny forehand, and accurate but spinny and not fast serve....

Re: Washington R2: Gabashvili def. [1]Murray 6-4 4-6 7-6(4)

Great match from Bashvili. He is a talented player who for one reason or another has never really put things together. It wold be great to see him have a stretch of good play on the US hard court...

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol. 20

It is almost certain that Fed will have a dip in form at some point -- the question is can he then get back on course.

Re: Is Federer injured ?

My take is that Fed is choosing to hit with less pace in rallies fairly often now, but he will unleash a FH when he thinks he can hi a winner. Makes sense to me, Fed has lost some pace and can't...

Re: Rank the 8 Quarter-finalists in order of preference...

Federer
Wawrinka
Gasquet
Pospisil
Simon
Murray
Djokovic
Cilic

One-handers get top priority.

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol. 19

Well this certainly helps Kev, but I don't think it will be enough. Nole knows he has to be on form tomorrow now and he'll be ready.

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol. 19

Re: Dustin Brown: Is that a ball in your pocket, or...

More reasons to like Dustin -- he's quirky and he annoys JMac. He also speaks a good Hannover German.

Re: Wimbledon R2: [Q] Brown def. [10] Nadal, 7-5 3-6 6-4 6-4

Saw this and Fed's match. What a contrast for the two titans of the sport.

As to Dustin, an amazing show. He will try any shot at least once. On any given ball at shoulder height, you don't know...

Re: Julio Peralta/Matt Seeberger doubles formation on serve

o I think it's so the other players don't know who is going to cover deuce/ad side, similar to Australian.

Re: What are Wawrinka's chances at the U.S. Open... if he goes into "Stanimal" Mode?

Of course Peak Stan would have a great chance to win USO. Also it's a myth that he is not a good mover. Maybe not the quickest, and not the best at moving forward, but how many times did he move...
