Re: Wimbledon F: Djokovic beats Federer 6-7(7), 6-4, 7-6(4), 5-7, 6-4, reclaims No. 1

Great match.

Most of it's been said already, but the thing that surprised me most was the level Djoko played at. An immense improvement from his QF and SF performances, where he couldn't even stay...

Re: How badly will the UK ratings have suffered without Murray?

They'll be down. British GP and Tour de France (in the UK) were on tv at the same time! Was hard to keep up as a sports fan.

Re: Wimbledon [R2]: Stakhovsky def. Gulbis 6-4 6-3 7-6(5)

Very true. The obsession some people have with Wimbledon court speed is borderline scary.

Re: Eastbourne F: [3] Lopez def. [1] Gasquet 6-3 6-7(5) 7-5

Lopez's game - borderline unwatchable on other surfaces - is beautiful on grass. Good stuff.

Re: Mad-dog Marinko: "I don't think highly of women's game"

Another day, another ill-educated moron speaks shit. Neanderthals lap it up. Tiresome.

Re: Tickets (overseas ballot)

Or take the train to Barnes and walk from there (about 20 mins).

Re: Can Dimitrov win Wimbledon 2014?

Not unless he hugely improves his movement from last year. He was slipping and sliding all over the place.

Re: Aljaz Bedene to switch allegiances to Great Britain

Yes, I can't see what's in it for him, given Slovenia is in the EU and he can stay in the UK in any case. Free training facilities at Roehampton?

Re: what was the biggest gs upset of all time

Surprised Becker losing to Doohan at Wimbledon in 1987 hasn't been mentioned. Guess it was so long ago not many here remember it, but it was huge at the time. Becker was seen as absolutely unbeatable...

Re: What happened to Jim Courier?

Lots of good points made in this thread. I also remember he started reading books at changeovers - strange.

Re: Currently running tournaments in order of historical prestige

Am I correct that Wimbledon was the first "proper" tennis tournament ever organised? (i.e. not just a few friends having a game on their own lawn). Quite remarkable that it's still going.

Re: Tennis players who are the GOAT sportsman in their country

Also Graeme Souness - he was a beast of a player.

Re: wimbledon SF WWW: Murray[2] vs Janowicz[24]

Weather is meant to be pretty warm and sunny on Friday which should make conditions faster. Another help to Janowicz.

Re: Wimby R1 Tomic d. Querrey 7-6 7-6 3-6 2-6 6-3

In fairness there were some amazing shots from Tomic to break Querrey in the 5th.

Re: Which one of these big hitters has the highest peak level?

If you're going by peak level of ball bashing, the best I've ever seen was by Rosol in the 5th set v Nadal at Wimbledon.

Re: Clownawicz outchokes Federer 4-6, 6-7

His epic victory over Gulbis at Wimbledon will always be his greatest achievement.

Re: When will ATP speed up courts?

I re-watched the Federer Djokovic Semi-Final a couple of weeks ago. Most striking thing was how few rallies there were (played indoors I know).

Re: FLASHBACK: ATP Bournemouth (1996-99)

Yes, I went to see it a few years ago. A women's ITF is held at the same time (or was).

I believe it was at the same club that the first open tennis tournament was held in 1968 (someone correct me...
