Re: Which Grand Slam is the hardest to defend? (Novak fails to defend AO)

Surprisingly, Novak Djokovic fails to defend his Australian Open title. Is the Australian Open becoming harder to defend?

Re: The average ranking of Federer Nadal, Djokovic and Murray Grand Slam Finals oppon

These are nice numbers, but some people use them as for pretty inaccurate analysis.

1st Flaw: A higher ranked player will have a lower average ranking when playing multiple times against a lower...

His MP record (Matches won down MP - Matches lost up MP) prior to 2010 is 12-7.

Re: Paris SF: Ferrer routines Nadal 6-3 7-5

Why are people acting so surprised?

Ferrer came into the match having beat Nadal in three important HC tournaments: 2007 US Open, 2007 WTF, 2011 AU Open. Almost all of Nadal's wins over Ferrer have...

Re: The New Yorker: Can Djokovic learn to act like a champion?

Interesting article. Too bad Novak had to rely on a quack like Cetojevic to give him self-belief (and a simple allergy test).

Re: Doping in Tennis Thread (No accusations without proof. Quinzi's comment)

This sad post demonstrates a key reason why doping is so hard to get rid of. Amazingly, there are doping apologists who believe drugs are an intrinsic part of the game of sport and athletes aren't...

Re: Cilic failed blood doping test in Munchen

The most disgusting thing is that all signs point to this being an ITF silent ban... 3 months, no press release, no one knew about it until it was leaked to the press.

No idea what they were...

Re: Doping in Tennis Thread (No accusations without proof. Murray comments on Puerto

If you're talking about the ruling, it's most certain the judge could have handled it better. Spain definitely had some sort of anti-doping infrastructure in place as early as 1992, otherwise they...

Re: Doping in Tennis Thread (No accusations without proof. Murray comments on Puerto

After the the raid in 2006, Fuentes was caught again in another anti-doping raid Operation Galgo in 2010.

Checking your statements wouldn't hurt, you know.

Re: Doping in Tennis Thread (No accusations without proof. Murray comments on Puerto

Much better response. Should have said so in the first place.

Fuentes was known to work with footballers and tennis players, and he was arrested as late as 2010, year of the World Cup.

Of course,...

Re: Doping in Tennis Thread (No accusations without proof. Murray comments on Puerto

Is this supposed to deflect or reduce the severity of Fuentes statement?

Hint: When someone steals, a defense of "he stole first" doesn't usually work.

Re: Doping in Tennis Thread (No accusations without proof. Murray comments on Puerto

It's mind boggling how the Spanish judge ruled to destroy the Operation Puerto blood bags. Almost as if there was some higher power asking her to do it. Definitely biggest sports cover-up in history.

Re: The Federer Achievement Thread (11 Types) (Updated: End of some streaks. Post#70)

Re: The Federer Achievement Thread (11 Types) (Updated: End of some streaks)

Federer's recent loss at Wimbledon R2 has brought an end to some of his fantastic consecutive streaks:

His total quarterfinals remains at 40, one behind Jimmy Connor's 41. (Djokovic: 25, Nadal: 24)...

Re: Most stomach turning, sickening, matchups in recent times?

So, anyone who thought a Djoko-Murray matchup would be bad to watch had a change of heart after that final? Or was it as horrible as you expected?

Re: Most stomach turning, sickening, matchups in recent times?

2 of Ferrer's wins were at slams: 2007 USO R4, 2011 AO QF, and 1 of those was at 2007 WTF, making their slam H2H 3-2 (in fact, Nadal has only won at Roland Garros). About 15 of Ferrer's losses come...

Re: Most stomach turning matchups in recent times?

Hopefully Novak and Andy will play a little more aggressive and entertaining on Wimbledon grass. I thought their Shanghai 2012 encounter was pretty good (Andy had 5 mp and still lost LOL).

Re: Most stomach turning matchups in recent times?

You forget that 2 of those 4 wins were at slams 2007 USO R4, 2011 AO QF, and 1 of those was at 2007 WTF. Their Slam h2h is 3-2 actually. Sure Ferrer's been beat down at the clay masters but kicking...
