Re: Nadal's godawful 2014: Decline or Injuries?

I don't think one can separate these from one another.

Re: Top 10 Grasscourters of the last 20 years

So: they play good on grass not because they are good on grass, but because they are good and happen to play on grass?

Re: The long lived myth that Rafael Nadal is or was muscular & anything more than lea

Uhuhu, all our blood freezes when reading this comment.

But maybe it's good that he doesn't know that you still use diapers.

Re: James Blake: "Out of Raonic, Nishikori & Dimitrov I'd take Dimitrov as next Slam

As for Nishikori's final participation at the US Open, I wait to see this confirmed. His R4/QF/SF wins over Raonic, Wawrinka, and Djokovic all happened under irregular conditions, with temperatures...

Re: James Blake: "Out of Raonic, Nishikori & Dimitrov I'd take Dimitrov as next Slam

All three have a good chance, especially as the big 4 seem to be losing the grip on the game. But all three have weaknesses also: Dimitrov lacks consistency, Raonic variability, Nishikori big weapons.

Re: Djokovic perhaps the most talented ever?

McEnroe really has no talent. He hasn't won a slam since Djokovic hired Becker.

Re: Better forehand: Peak Del Po or Peak Gonzalez

Very different forehands, and therefore hard to compare, Gonzalez inside-out and del Potro's running forehand.

Re: Who is the FOAT (fittest player of all time)?

Today's top dogs are all incredibly fit, the modern game just demands this. Among past players, Agassi, Courier, Lendl, Borg stood out; but then again, Wilander, Becker and Sampras were very fit too.

The insults seem an integral part of the pubertarian, testostron-laden discussion culture on this forum. Ignore rather than getting upset. Then again, I thought people brought forward good...

Re: The golden era of men's tennis: 2005-12. It was great while it lastet, but it's o

To be the biggest regret is Del Potro. He had the game to put persistent pressure on the Big 4, and could have made the golden era even a bit more golden.

Re: The golden era of men's tennis: 2005-12. It was great while it lastet, but it's o

Nah. Pre-2005 wasn't golden, as Federer didn't have competition. Only when Nadal started putting serious pressure on Federer, and then Djokovic and Murray put pressure on both, did the era become so...

Sounds like the response from someone who can think only in terms of "X must be a fan of Y and hence he says Z".

I'm not married to 2005 as start date (Nadal's first slam), one can also pick 2006....

Re: The golden era of men's tennis: 2005-12. It was great while it lastet, but it's o

I think so. Murray was part of what made the era great, and him finally winning his slams was a fitting end to it. Thereafter competition dropped.

I agree with another poster that Djokovic is still...

Re: The golden era of men's tennis: 2005-12. It was great while it lastet, but it's o

True, the late 70s were also great. But they did not created the same density of competition. Borg and McEnroe dominated Connors at the top of their games. And Lendl broke through only after Borg was...

The golden era of men's tennis: 2005-12. It was great while it lastet, but it's over

The last few grand slam tournaments leave little doubt in my mind that the golden era of men's tennis is over. Federer is now really old, Nadal and Murray fight with recurring injuries, and even...

Re: Is Grigor Dimitrov the real deal?

Dimitrov has trouble breaking through to the very top, as have other players of his generation.

As a result the once golden period of the Big 4 gets extended, even though their quality isn't what it...
