Re: Wimbledon R1: injured Blaz Kavcic def Yuichi Sugita 7-6(3)6-3 7-6(5)

Kavcic suggesting in interview he thought at the time of the injury he'd have to retire if he lost the tiebreak, and that "he couldn't walk" (clearly he improved a bit after treatment, but...

Re: Wimbledon, R1: Andujar def. Garcia Lopez 3:6, 6:4, 3:6, 7:5, 6:4

GGL kinda bombing in the bigger events lately, bit weird. Give him a mug 250 though, and he's all over it like a rash (two titles in last 4 mths!)

Re: Wimbledon R1: Pospisil def. Millot 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-7(4), 7-6(4), 6-3

To be fair to Pospisil, he did retire last week.

Fell really hard in the tiebreak he lost too, and double-faulted a point or two after.

Re: Wimbledon R1 > [2] Federer def. Dzumhur 6-1, 6-3, 6-3

Not really, Nadal today was 186kph average (116mph), the exact same as in the US Open 2010 final. In the US Open 2013 final it was a lot slower at 176kph (109mph).

Anyway, Fed today looked fine to...

Re: Wimbledon R1: Groth d. [31] Sock 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-3

:-)

Despite "not being able to make two balls in a row", Groth still had less errors than Sock.

Re: Is it grass or green clay??

According to Federer .....

"The court already plays quite fast, on the harder side, it does play different."

Re: Sam Querrey should be ashamed of himself

Querrey could be leading 6/1 6/3 5/1 against Fed, and he'd still find a way to lose.

Andujar winning on grass is the time you top up on apocalypse insurance.

Re: 41 degrees on court

Centre court gets stupid hot because of the design of the structure, way hotter than any of the other courts.

It's going to be horrendous the next few days, prolly hit 50 on court at times.

Re: Wimbledon R1: injured Blaz Kavcic def Yuichi Sugita 7-6(3)6-3 7-6(5)

Groin, maybe.

Was certainly a mugtastic final tiebreak from Sugita. Keep it in court, run your opponent around, he probably wins in five.

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol. 18

Monfils vs Carreno-Busta, clearly destined to be a modern grass classic.

Re: Wimbledon R1: Groth d. [31] Sock 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-3

It wasn't too obvious live tbh, and his hand was resting on his knee.

Maybe he had both? I had 8 streams up at the time so remembering what happened when and to who is all a little fuzzy :-)

Re: Wimbledon R1: Groth d. [31] Sock 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-3

I thought hand at the time, a few people said knee. It looked painful as hell though.

This looks like hand from the 3rd pic:

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol. 18

Yeah, I'm sure he doesn't.

Might be the 2005 figures were pretty unrepresentative tbh, maybe only from Wim? Not that many go over 100 either, Isner does, Roddick did, Soderling, then also guys like...

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol. 18

2014 figures aren't exactly useful, given Murray post-surgery couldn't rotate the back at all on serve. He actually had to use a different service motion last year as a result.

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol. 18

I am disturbed by the lack of Querreying in Sam's match.

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol. 18

Popsicle just about hit a home run with his backhand there, but further and it's in the next court.

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol. 18

Sock getting something very painful done to his fingers by the trainer. Perhaps fortunately, the camera is sparing my lunch.
