Re: Will Del Po win a 2nd slam before he retires?

I'd love to say yes, but I think it's starting to look unlikely.

Recent training photos show he's put on a lot of weight and it doesn't look like he's reached the point where he's able to hit a...

Re: Do you condone players retiring three games before the end of a match?

If you saw the match, Nishikori could barely walk before he retired. Would you prefer he make a total fool of his opponent by standing motionless on the baseline for the last 3 games?

At least...

Re: Nishikori is so classy.

Have you been living under a rock? Del Potro has had his second major surgery in the past five years, after dealing with a serious wrist injury. I'm baffled as to how his injury before the surgery...

Re: Who is the better tennis player, Del Potro or Roddick?

Roddick won 5 Masters titles, but who did he beat in the finals to win those? Nalbandian, Fish, Coria, Ferrero and Berdych -- that's one Slam between the five players he beat in M1000 finals. ...

Re: Dubai R1: Devvarman def. Del Potro 7-6(3) ret.

I get the impression that Delpo's doctor is unable to locate the specific injury in his left wrist. Otherwise, he would have advised a more aggressive form of treatment already. Maybe Delpo needs to...

Re: Who has more of a chance winning another GS - Del Potro or Wawrinka?

It's impossible to say he would've won for sure if Nadal hadn't been that seriously injured. I'm not saying Stan didn't deserve the title, but he was greatly assisted by a combination of factors...

Re: Who has more of a chance winning another GS - Del Potro or Wawrinka?

Is everyone completely forgetting the fact that Stan was facing a severely hobbled Rafa in the AO final?

Granted, Rafa says he was injured during the USO in 2009, but he was nowhere near as...

Re: Rank the level of play/runs of the last five US Open winners

Del Potro, 2009.

He beat 3 former/current world no. 1s & Grand Slam champions en route to his USO win (R4 Juan Carlos Ferrero, SF Rafael Nadal, F Roger Federer). I don't know if that's been done...

Re: Prediction: Del Potro will beat Nadal in QF

Delpo's not even a lock to reach the QF. He's been in crap form and rarely plays his best tennis in Australia. Early rounds against Paire and Dimitrov/Raonic will be tricky.

Re: Why Del Potro is playing Sydney?

Delpo's body language in Sydney is terrible. He gets frustrated very easily and he looks like a tired man.

He showed similar signs during the US hard-court swing---he was very cranky in Cincinnati...

Re: Biggest Loss for Tennis?

But Soderling lost in straight sets at both Slam finals he reached. In that respect, is he really all that different from Berdych or Tsonga?

Don't get me wrong, I miss Soderling too. He was part of...

Re: Your life is in danger

Dodig was a double break up in the 3rd set over Delpo at Montreal. Then he served for the match at 5*-4 and got broken back. Promptly lost the match. Delpo could only shrug and laugh after it was all...

Re: JMac: Ditch doubles tennis from major tournaments

Del Potro rarely plays doubles. I'm not sure he really cares about going deep when he's entered in the doubles draw, so it's tough to say whether or not he'd be any good at it. If he put in the...

Re: Ferrer or Del Potro - who is better?

Del Potro's record at Slams is 1W, 0RU, 3SF, 5QF. He has 3 SFs at Grand Slams, not 2 (2009 RG, 2009 USO, 2013 Wimbledon). He has 5 QF and no RU appearances.

When comparing Del Potro and Ferrer,...

Re: Will Wawrinka or Del-Potro make a slam final in 2014? Or even win a GS?

Wawrinka's 2013 season reminds me of peak Verdasco.

Verdasco reached the semis at 2009 AO by beating Murray and Tsonga. He then lost a 5-set match to world no. 1 Nadal in the SF.
Wawrinka reached...

Re: Davis Cup - Del Potro turns down Argentina over 'two-faced' approach

Delpo has rarely ever played the R1 tie for Argentina in Davis Cup (he's played a total of one R1 tie and that was in 2007, before his breakout year).

What I find silly about the feud between the...

Re: Queens shows no respect

Excuse me? Read the fine print on tickets. Matches are subject to change, which means the players you intended to watch on Centre Court might not end up playing there. Fans knows this when they...

Re: Queens shows no respect

The stands were full when Hewitt beat Del Potro earlier. I don't think the crowd would have had too much of a problem watching a former 2-time Slam Winner and world no. 1 take on the defending...

Re: Queens shows no respect

Look, I get that Queen's needs to broadcast their show pony Andy Murray, in order to serve BBC and British media interests. But they should be a little less obvious and desperate about it.

If you...

Re: Del Potro out of Roland Garros (OFFICIAL)

Remember when Rafa fans were moaning that he had a "fatal virus" in 2011 during Doha and Roland Garros? They predicted the end of days would come...

I'd say the situation here with Del Potro is...

Re: Juan Martin Del Potro is OUT of Madrid

It's not so much that Delpo doesn't "like" to travel, it's that the flights between Argentina and the rest of the world take more time.

Back in 2012, his coach Franco Davin gave an interview where...

Re: Bucharest F: Rosol def. Garcia-Lopez 6-3 6-2

This. You wouldn't believe the number of Rafa fans who were clutching at their pearls because Rosol dared to bite the trophy.

First of all, Rosol was very emotional after winning the match. He was...

Re: Who is the most gracious winner/loser?

Djokovic is a gracious loser, but he has the greatest difference between his "winning behavior" and "losing behavior." I would rather he celebrate less in victory in exchange for being a little less...
