Re: Davis Cup

Second straight 10-8 5th set victory puts us up 2-1. Still the underdogs tomorrow though, but victory is certainly possible.

Also, do we play Vasek tomorrow or sub in Frank the Tank?

Re: Davis Cup

I say we play to win, not to keep it close. If it is 2-2 and the 5th rubber is Vasek/Frank vs Djokovic, have we really kept the tie alive (I would suggest that we have not).

Re: Davis Cup

Wouldn't it still be better to have Milos play Djokovic on Friday instead of Sunday anyways? So I don't see the downside to trying this move.

Re: 2013 Live Comentary

Andersson's break a result of a botched, super late line call.

Re: Milos Raonic

Seems to be working temporarily with a reasonable chance of making it permanent. Milos was far more aggressive than he has been, which I think has to be his style of play. I also still think that...

Re: Milos Raonic

He beat Robredo in a 3rd set tiebreaker and after dropping the 1st set. However, he was like 2 for 9 or something on break points and 0 for 1 saving his own break pts, which made the match closer...

Re: Davis Cup

I sure hope its not both sides wearing red uniforms playing on red clay, will be torture even in HD!

Speaking of red clay, is it guaranteed that Serbia will select clay? Djokovic is good on any...

Re: Frank Dancevic

He got Kubot (ranked 94) in round 1, then Querrey in round 2, and then Milos should they both make round 3.

Re: Milos Raonic

Milos got a very good draw in Miami:
Bye, Qualifier, Querrey, Berdych, Gasquet, Murray, Djokovic.

With this draw, and no top 4 until the Semi's, this is a great opportunity for him to go deep in a...

Re: Milos Raonic

Milos and Lopez defeated Nestor. Probably good to get some doubles in with the walkover in singles.

Re: Davis Cup

We officially chose Vancouver for the tie against Italy, which makes sense to me.

Re: San Jose Final: (1) Milos Raonic defeats (4) Tommy Haas 6-4 6-3

I agree, the backhand, and especially the backhand ROS was by far the best I have seen him hit it. He would seriously trouble any player when he plays this good.

Re: 2013 Live Commentary

I have never seen Milos hit his backhand this good. If he can do this with more consistancy, he will quickly get into the top 10.

Re: Milos Raonic

Foot injury would explain the poor volleying, terrible groundstrokes and general impatience (especially from the backhand side) that he displayed.

Re: Milos Raonic

Not a very good match for Milos today, was poor at net and way too many errors from the ground.

Re: Isn't it time to set a 5th set tie break at the Australian Open?

I personally like a compromise of going to a tiebreaker at 12-12 in the 5th set. 6-6 is just too early to go to a somewhat lotteryish tiebreaker, but at some point it is in both players interest to...

Re: Milos Raonic

It is the night match, and second on court after Serena. Start time no earlier than 4:00am EST and more likely around 5:00am. The conditions of being so late definitely favour Fed, but Milos can...

Re: WWW AO R4: Federer vs. Raonic?

The key in the previous meetings has been Fed's struggles returning Milos' 2nd serve. I think Fed struggles against Milos more than many other big servers due to Raonic's ability to get serves to...

Re: AO R3 : Raonic beats Kohlschreiber 7-6(4) 6-3 6-4

Kohl never figured out the spin on Milos 2nd serve, which is actually something that Federer has struggled with as well (along with the kick serve high to his backhand). It's frustrating enough...

Re: Milos Raonic

Pretty good crushing of Kohlshrieber who never got a handle on the spin on Milos serve (something that Fed has struggled with as well vs Milos). I assume that Fed-Milos will be the night match on...

Re: Shanghai R2: Baghdatis def. [12] Raonic 7-6(4) 6-7(5) 7-6(3)

Yes, he just needs to play as he did vs Murray in Tokyo, aggressive returning and consistent, powerful play from the baseline.

Re: WWW Tokyo SF: [1] Murray vs. [6] Raonic

I thought that Milos was mixing in a few new first serves against Tipsy yesterday, and I expect to see him deploy these against Murray, who exploited his previous serving pattern to great effect in...

Re: WWW: The GOAT top 10 (Tipsarevic) vs. Mugonic, the Canadian Servebot (Raonic)?

I agree Milos didn't serve badly, but he didn't serve his best, particularly his 2nd serve where he was only confident in one (and Murray was good at returning that one, unlike Federer who sucked at...
