Re: Houston QR1: Sweeting def. Sandgren 6-3, 6-3

Sandgren is actually a pretty fine player, so this is very encouraging for Sweeting. Long way to go, but there does appear to be some kind of a light at the end of the tunnel*.

*That is if you think...

Re: Future and Challenger threads in General Messages

It's called 'general messages', not 'ATP-tour only messages'. You're plucking a rule out of thin air that doesn't even exist.

I expected to land in the purple quadrant, but not sure quite that far to the right.

Re: The United Kingdom General Election thread

It most certainly is about trust.

It's about finding the party that shares your ideals, and gauging whether they will deliver or not on those promises.

Re: The United Kingdom General Election thread

I just did the test, and got:

33% Tory
33% Lib Dem
16% UKIP
16% Green

It's pretty much spot on, but it was a flawed exercise in one regard, as I knew exactly which party had which policy.

I'm...

Re: Is Nishikori done?

Nishikori 'arrived' last season, and this year will see his sophomore slump as he adjusts to the pressure of being one of the favourites to win every tournament he enters. If he can finish top 8, the...

Re: Indian Wells R4: (4)Andy Murray def. Adrian Mannarino 6-3 6-3

Typical Indian Wells performance from Murray. Really dodgy, and seemingly lacking in motivation. Luckily for him he faces Lopez next, instead of Nishikori.

The less said about Mannarino, the better,...

Re: Kyrgios out of Miami

Don't care, personally. He's not a loss to the tournament. If fans want to see that kind of showboating, they should go to watch Miami Heat.

Re: Bizzare situations occur in Drumondville Challenger, Canada

Sorry to be a party pooper, but Bester and Guccione should win the first round match. But it's not impossible that they lose. ;)

EDIT: The bookies have it as a dead even contest, in fact. So I'm...

Re: Which youngster will be the biggest villain?

The four that we're all talking about are arrogant twerps, and that's probabky the reason why they're succeeding and the generation before them struggled.

Kokkinakis will be the most hated, I mean...

Re: Indian Wells R4: (12)Feliciano Lopez def. (20)Pablo Cuevas 6-2 4-6 6-3

These courts suit Lopez perfectly. I think he is the best in the world at hitting forehands above shoulder height.

Re: MTF 2015 Favourite Players Thread - Post your Top 10's and/or a Top 3

1. Pablo Cuevas : I love his game, cool guy, really humble, Uruguayan and his battle against injuries made me like him more than any other player.

2. Martin Cuevas : Mostly because he's...

Re: Ask MTF Mods

Fine, keep the threads. But permanently ban the user to make sure it isn't just intended as an attention seeking stunt.

Re: Is Swiss Tennis screwed after Fed and Wawa?

I love how the OP talks about Lammer as if he was ever a factor. Even at his peak, he was gash.

Re: Ask MTF Mods

Can people who make farewell threads be permanently banned in order for them to stay true to their word?

It's flagrant attention seeking and we could frankly do without it.

Re: Who was the more exciting player, Gonzalez or Safin?

Safin was predictably unpredictable if that makes sense. Kind of like a mixture of Gulbis and Fognini in terms of personality. I guess the big difference is that Safin had an exciting game unlike...

Nice to know that Gulbis also thinks Nishikori is an undeserved top 5.

Re: IWR2: David Ferrer def. Ivan Dodig 46 61 76(6)

This is why Ferrer is a legend. Dangerous opponent, playing some of his best tennis in the opening set. What does he do in response? Crush him in the second set. Dodig raised his level again in the...

Re: Indian Wells R2: [20] Cuevas def. Nieminen, 4-6 7-5 6-0 (Nieminen led 6-4 5-3)

Cuevas can play well on a slow hard-court, to be honest. He beat Roddick at Miami in 2011, and should have beaten Simon in the match after that one. :)

However, I guess he's not in good enough form...

Re: Should Indian Wells and Miami be worth 1250 points?

1) The US already has enough events. One masters and one slam is enough, and I feel like Indian Wells and Miami have lost their organic feel, and should be the ones to go. I don't care about money....

Re: Should Indian Wells and Miami be worth 1250 points?

Do you actually watch the tennis at Indian Wells? Or do you just admire the crowds and the scenery?

Re: IW R2: Ramos def. Benneteau 6-2 6-3

Remember these courts are horrificly slow and high bouncing. Suits the player who can hit with topspin.

Re: WWW Indian Wells R3: [5] Nishikori vs. [31] Verdasco

Nishikori has nothing to hurt Verdasco woth. It all depends on how motivated Verdasco is, and how mentally strong he is. We all know that Nishikori will be solid and wait in hope of the implosion on...

Re: IW R2: Murray def Pospisil 6-1 6-3

Even if he serves well, I still feel he's always in trouble against the top players, due to his shot selection once the point becomes neutral, and his return of serve. I know he's good at the net,...
