Re: Walter Trusendi and Elie Rousset banned over match-fixing

Trusendi isn't a name that surprises, tbh. Yet another Italian fixer.

Rousset I've not seen involved before, but then he's quite low-ranked.

Re: WWW? ATP 1000 Miami Open (Draw Discussion)

I'm going to vote Raonic simply because MTF would explode.

Re: "Speed up the courts and general court speed Thread"

Very hot and dry today. Tomorrow's forecast is 5C less, twice the humidity and a lot more cloud cover.

Re: Official CPR for Masters 1000 and Grand Slams

That's medium/slow you're thinking of. Medium/fast is 40-44.

Re: Official CPR for Masters 1000 and Grand Slams

They're not subjective, these are precise measurements with very expensive equipment.

The problem here is simply that the surfaces mentioned on the list are not the same as the surfaces actually...

Re: Official CPR for Masters 1000 and Grand Slams

I take it this is from the ITF certification program?

If so, that's not what's actually used at the tournaments, it's just a "default" based on what the manufacturers chose to send in for testing -...

Re: WWW? ATP 1000 Miami Open (Draw Discussion)

Miami is the least servebot-friendly hard court event on the tour, none of them are any threat here at all.

Re: Indian Wells SF: (2) Federer def. (6) Raonic 7-5 6-4

Bit of an opposite of the Nadal match - there Raonic started terribly and then improved his level gradually as the match went on, ending with some really impressive stuff. Here he started as he ended...

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol 8.

rofl, triple bp on his racquet, short and high ball ...........

....and after screwing that up, next point balloons a second serve return way long.

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol 8.

Well, serve is a rather large part of his game :-) The fact it disappears around there is fairly significant ........ and then broken again start of the 2nd. Four games in a row, not terrible...

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol 8.

Not bad from Raonic at times, but fairly noticeable dip at 5-5. That's happened a fair few times against better players around that time of the set.

Federer kinda cruising now, his focus seems to be...

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol 8.

Looked like it was about to happen - Raonic just can't get the ball past Federer's defence enough.

Re: Indian Wells SF: [1] Djokovic defeats [4] Murray 6-2, 6-3

I never said "don't count" - all matches count. I simply refuted the argument that Djokovic "always owned" Murray, which is clearly nonsense.

Yes, Djokovic owned Murray before he was in the top...

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol 8.

Nice to see Raonic having some belief against the top guys.

Like him or not, he has to be given credit for continuously taking steps of improvement in his career. It'd be easy for him to plateau,...

Re: Indian Wells SF: [1] Djokovic defeats [4] Murray 6-2, 6-3

I'm OK with that. 8-7 or 7-7 doesn't make any real difference to my point, which was that it was competitive or approximately even for a lengthy period. Thus, a clear difference to the 0-6 since...

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol 8.

Good start Raonic, but he's having to hit a lot of shots to break Federer's defence - that point there was insane, Federer retrieving massive hit after massive hit.

Kinda dubious Raonic can keep up...

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol 8.

:-) I was wincing as he tried that, just getting less and less playable the more he moved to it.

Re: Indian Wells SF: [1] Djokovic defeats [4] Murray 6-2, 6-3

Logic? You said Djokovic "always owned" Murray. Reality: there was a period of 5.5years and 15 matches where Murray won more than he lost. Thus, "always" is wrong.

Murray then has back surgery, and...

Re: Indian Wells SF: [1] Djokovic defeats [4] Murray 6-2, 6-3

Nope:

1) Before Murray was top 10 (mid 2008), Djokovic was 4-0.

2) For the next 5.5 years, ie until the back surgery, it's Murray 8-7.

3) Since back surgery, Djokovic is 6-0.

Re: Thanks to Larry Ellison

That's a complete myth. I have the ITF measurements from 2003 and 2005, and both times it was as slow as clay.

Then there's the fairly obvious point that Ellison took over in 2010, and Nadal won it...

Re: Indian Wells SF: [1] Djokovic defeats [4] Murray 6-2, 6-3

Djoko missed nothing, very solid from the baseline, nearly impossible to get the ball past him.

Murray meanwhile was useless until 2/6 0/3, had 40% first serve at that point and something like 2.25...

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol 8.

Well, Murray has stopped spraying errors and serving OK now, but gift the world #1 at 6/2 3/0 lead and it's not often you're coming back from it.

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol 8.

Djokovic solid but hasn't had to do much, because Murray has 40% first serve and more errors than Gulbis.

Re: 2015 Live Commentary Thread vol 8.

He's loosening up now. Doesn't change the fact all four previous breaks were without a single Djokovic winner, and only 2 forced errors.
