Federer has this comfort zone he won't strain himself beyond. The day when he has to go out of his comfort zone to even have a chance of winning a match is the day he'll retire, IMO.

Sampras and Americans in general regarded the French as a royal pain in the ass. The motivation just wasn't there to adjust and do the work necessary to succeed on clay.

His serve. To dominate, he needs to win a lot easy,cheap points. He dominated 2011 by grinding out every important point but the mental/physical/emotional energy required to repeat that....In a way...
