Re: WWW Davis Cup: United States vs. Great Britain

Querrey is injured (back) but he's also been awful this year. I also wouldn't want him playing James Ward in a fifth rubber after what happened last year.

Johnson would seem to be the other...

No kidding. They had such high hopes when the weekend began.

Re: Players that were in the top 10, that people may have forgot about.

Brad Gilbert being a Top 5 player. We know he's introduced as such but I seriously don't remember him being in the elite.

Also, it's at a time like this we should all be happy Troicki botched the...

Re: Journalist from New Zealand trashes Isner for withdrawing from Auckland

As soon as I heard Gimelstob say on-air that John was fine (not even bothering with the word "tired"), I knew an article like this would surface.

Re: French article saysTsonga will soon announce his withdrawal from the Australian O

Remember reading somewhere Gasquet had said that Tsonga was getting paid one million dollars to play IPTL. That was very good incentive to play while injured. I imagine similar with Cilic.

Re: Doha Entry List (updated December 28, 2014)

There are 4 in the qualifying draw - none have a ranking. I'd say they're wasting spots but a player ranked in the 1600s got in qualies.

Jaziri and Safwat are the only WCs I've seen mentioned... so...

Re: Out of the current top 10, is Nadal the most aesthetically pleasing player to wat

I'd actually say Rafa's game is the least aesthetically pleasing of the Top 5.

Re: Biggest Flop: Donald Young or Freddy Adu?

Adu. I cannot even think of a tennis comparison but Young is definitely better than that.

Re: Who is the better player : Gasquet, Monfils or Simon ?

I'm amazed all three have the same number of wins over Top 8 players, given Monfils is the one proclaimed to be the best against the elite.

That in mind, Gasquet. Monfils is useless in finals.

Re: Would Bellucci be a top 10 with the way he played in Davis Cup last week?

His career high ranking is #21. The third option does seem reasonable.

Re: Have Karlovic, Isner and Raonic ever won a set 6-0 ?

The "trade bagels" match is so rare but it involving Raonic and Llodra on clay is special.

Re: Draw Luck of Lower Ranked Players

I hadn't even looked at Sock's draw when I posted so didn't realize he was in that Nishikori section. I also just noticed Raonic's cakewalk to the quarters.

Re: Draw Luck of Lower Ranked Players

Definitely agree regarding Kubot. He got the walkover when Darcis couldn't play after beating Rafa. Other clear beneficiaries from the 2013 chaos - as in players who got far without causing upsets...

Re: U.S. Open Entry List/Fact Sheet (updated August 18, 2014)

smucav - the reason Haas got called out is that everyone already knew he wasn't playing due to the shoulder issue. There was less information regarding the other three.

Ryan Harrison retiring from...

Re: U.S. Open Entry List/Fact Sheet (updated August 18, 2014)

If that information about the wild card is true, guess that means Ginepri still has a chance.

Also, Tursunov is not official but hasn't played since Wimbledon. Could be another Haas-at-Wimbledon...

Re: WWW Washington QF: [4]Kei Nishikori vs [6]Richard Gasquet

What an odd H2H. Their three-setter sticks in my mind, as that match would've gotten Kei into the Top 10 sooner but he totally choked so I hadn't even realized the other three matches were so...

Re: Article John Isner Angry He was not on center court

I don't get why the Raonic-Sock is the one being blasted for being on the main court. Grand Slam SF/top 10 player vs American player who actually won a major.

Berdych is the #1 seed so he basically...

Re: Atlanta QF : Sela d pospisil 7 5 16 62 from 0 2 in third

Vasek had a tweak in the first set and kept getting trainer rubdowns. Dudi wasn't injured; he was more interested in hijacking the trainer away from Vasek because his brain was out to lunch in the...

Re: Players whose only ATP wins come from main draws of Grand slams

The Kyrgios one is rather incredible. 7!

Janowicz has been doing a great job at breaking in teenagers in big matches. Novikov, Coric, Jordan Thompson's near-win.

Re: Best US Open Final 2014?

I know that Federer/Nadal is the one people want to see since they've never played at the US Open but Djokovic/Federer would be the best match.

Though what I'd really rather see is Nadal/Murray as...

Re: Vitas Gerulaitis NOT in Tennis Hall of Fame.

The main reason he's still talked about in terms of his career is due to the extraordinary number of times he lost to the main names of his era.
