Augustin Gensse
Surprise this week!
23 years-old Augustin Gensse qualified for the main draw of Valencia. He's only 433 and beat G.Fraile (146) in qualifications. He could reach the 2nd round, he faces a WC ranked 851. Who knows him? Was he a good junior? Any news or Pix? Allez Augustin! |
Re: Augustin Gensse
His best results this year have been QF at futures and now he's in the MD of Valencia  And he is drawn against the only opponent he could potentially beat! Good luck to him today!

Re: Augustin Gensse
He won against James Ward 6-7(2) 6-4 6-3...1st ever win on the ATP tour, bravo!

Re: Augustin Gensse
Don't make fun :ras:
He's not likely to ever have another one, so let the guy enjoy it  |
Re: Augustin Gensse
I'm not. If Gicquel can come out of nowhere to break into the Top 50, why can't other French journeymen?

Re: Augustin Gensse
Ok, let's give this guy his 15 minutes of exposure...
In 2001, when Roger-Vasselin beat him in final of the French Champ. (17-18) he was discribed as a "joueur de fond de court avec un lift giclant" (~"baseliner with a strong top spin"). He's from Dax (his club is the US Dax, Côte Basque - Béarn Landes). Birthdate: 10-Aug-83. A few pics : ![]() ![]() :wavey: |

It was hard but it's done! Congratulations Augustin!
Thanks Delsa! Finalist of the junior championship... most of these French players reached the top 200, so we can hope to see him more often! Here are 2 others photos. |
Re: Augustin Gensse

But that's where he played as a junior anyway... So i think he's a Dacquois by birth...Not too bad, he only lost 7-6(11), 6-4 to Ivan Navarro Pastor today... |
Re: Augustin Gensse
For all the new fans of Augustin, there is an audio interview of him on www.radio-tennis.com this week. Nothing amazing, but he tells a little bit more about himself, the life of a lower ranked player, etc.
He's training in Spain (in a little group of Spanish coaches and players, like Montanes) - to try to give a new boost to his career. |
