The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
For the second Grand Slam in a row Joshua has come through qualifying into the main draw. If he could only find the consistency of his best results.

Re: The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
Supposedly he is from Berkshire, that's round by me. :) Can't wait to see if he can beat Mathieu.
|
Re: The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
Well, he didn't make it past Mathieu, but he put up a darn good show, taking a set off a player ranked about 200 places above him!

Re: The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
Yeah. Pretty awesome. It's such a shame he couldn't win though, if he'd won it would have been a huge boost to his profile. It kind of sucks that nobody really said anything about it over here and they were just talking about the battle of the two past it brits.

Re: The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
Nobody really said anything about it because it was on a non televised court. If it was televised more people probably would have talked about it
|
Re: The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
Yeah but he's a pretty small player. I would have expected people to talk about it here at least.

Re: The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
This is a player who has risen about 150 places this year (up 70 ranking points) and while not achieving what might have been expected as a junior is obviously inproving
|
Re: The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
Hmmm...he is probably no better than top 200 material...but maybe he will do a Stepanek later on in his career :yeah:
|
Re: The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
Josh has risen 135 ranking places from 386 to 251....and plays his last event of the year in the futures event in Czech F4
|
Re: The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
His last event for 2006 is in the next week, Czech Republic F5. :D
And he could head to India in December. |
Re: The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
Josh played on so late in 2006 and has suffered for it so far in 2007.
Still he has made it to British No 5. Inside the top 215 |
Re: The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
Plays doubles with Ross Hutchins...
They lost to Donald Young and partner yesterday :( Nevermind |
Re: The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
Josh plays a qualifer or LL at Wolfsburg challenger.
Follow it in the challenger section. Also seeded 3 in doubles. Next week he heads to Jersey for 15K futures |
Re: The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
Josh's opponent will be Seden's Bjorn Rehnquist. Much lower ranked but has been as high as 147 and will be a realy tough opponent as Josh looks for his first singles win of the year
|
Re: The steady rise of Joshua Goodall
Rehnquist won 7-6 5-7 7-6 unfortunately.
Josh plays doubles today with Czech Jan Mertl. Hopefully Mertl can drag him up! |
