Re: Henman slays 3 GS champs to win Paris Masters title
Terrific accomplishment for Tim.
Really people rag on Tim, but he isn't the most physically gifted guy. He's worked very hard for where he has gotten and he deserves to be proud of what he has done. It's too bad that he will be judged to always have come up lacking, but I think that is because of the expectations of the British public. |
Re: Henman slays 3 GS champs to win Paris Masters title
Right on Tim! Now take a good holiday, have some fun playing Goran in RAH this winter and come back firing next year. See you in Rotterdam :D

Henman delighted with best-ever win
Tim Henman rated his victory at the Paris Masters Series tournament as the most significant of his career. The British number one beat Andrei Pavel in straight sets to bring a fitting conclusion to a spectacular week. Henman beat new world number one Andy Roddick and Wimbledon champion Roger Federer in previous rounds, having earlier ousted Gustavo Kuerten and Sebastien Grosjean. In the final, Pavel was outclassed and lost 6-2 7-6(8-6) 7-6(7-2) in a battle of two unseeded players. Henman was ranked 40th in the world last month, but he will jump to 14th when the new rankings are announced on Monday. "Wimbledon is obviously at home and the most beautiful tournament in the world, but that tournament has always finished with a loss," said Henman of his four semi-final defeats. "This one's finishing with a final and a win, so right now this is definitely my greatest achievement. "It's been an unbelievable week for me, and I had absolutely no doubt at all during the final. "I felt totally in control; I was playing the level of tennis where I had no reason to panic. "Even so the third set was the most difficult of the whole week for me. I had to stay in the same relaxed frame of mind, and that is when he became more aggressive. "The match point was the end of the nerves and tension." Henman had previously lost in two Masters Series finals, at Cincinnati in 2000 and Indian Wells two years later. "I got my tennis right this week and I don't want it to be an exception. The challenge for me now is to do it more often," he said. "I am confident I can win a grand slam, and snatching a tournament of this stature can only reinforce your belief about that." ![]() www.ananova.com |
