it's gonna be so stupid. what happens if you are given three chances to overrule per match and then (after being right 3 times), at 5-5 in the third (or fifth) you know a bad call went against you

If you are right then you get your challenge back. If you are wrong then you lose your challenge. You get three and usually in a match there isn't that many disputed line calls.

and, even if you get your challenge back, it will slow down the pace of the matches even more

i think the point would be to avoid abuse of the system. We all know damn well that there are many players on both the mens and womens tour who would challenge every single call that's remotely close and it would really disrupt the game IMO. But if there's a limit to, say, you can only be wrong three times a match or once a set or something like that, then I think people will be smarter about when to use it.

I also think it should be set up so that the ump can challenge anything himself - such as before deciding on an overrule.

one challenge per match for each player.

only two challanges per set rule? if wrong on 1st you lose, 2nd.

I'm reservedly happy. I think it could help make it more fair, if you get a bad call on a set points or something.

There shouldn't be a restriction on the number of challenges. What's the point of having a system like this if you can't query *any* call and the bad calls still affect the game?

If it's good enough, use it all the time. If it's not good enough to use all the time, then don't use it at all.

Don't know what tennis is coming to, what with the stupid doubles scoring and now this. <big sigh>

Certainly agree with your last statement - that's a very good idea.

Not sure that players would abuse the system - for clay they can and do ask for marks to be checked, but it doesn't slow the game down unduly. Why would this be any different? It might even be quicker - the umpire wouldn't even have to get down to check a mark.

As far as I know, this system will be only used in the biggest tournaments (GSs, Masterss) and on show courts.

So how is that fair if it's only used in certain tournaments and on certain courts?
