Is there any chance that another pair could play, unless one of the Bryans was injured?!

I'm hanging on for Jim to cap off his career with a Davis Cup title :lol:

Well obviously if the Bryans were injured, someone else would HAVE to play... but actually I bet PMac would go with, either the uninjured Bryan and a singles player (Andy or Mardy), or he might go with a team like James and Mardy who have played doubles together, won some titles, and have played DC doubles together even.

Basically it took the Bryans winning a slam and getting to the top of the rankings before PMac was willing to take a chance on a pure doubles team and now the Bryans are as close to a guaranteed point as we have. So I think that if they couldn't play, he wouldn't want to take that risk so he'd have at least one play-able singles player in there.

Just my opinion :shrug: Sorry Andrew lol

That's what I figured, before I wrote it-forgot to put it in, about James & Mardy. Interesting about Pat M waiting, but makes sense-they were shaky until they got that first slam. But not sure about the Fit Bryan + Singles player-they're twins, surely they do all the same stuff hence same injuries at same time. :D

Maybe if I wipe out the rest of the US Davis Cup team for a while, Jim will get a look in?

6th best doubles player in the States, say the rankings. Thats a lot of injuries, and whether or not PMac would want to waste a place in the team on a doubles specialist.

Just to make clear, I'm purely doing this for fun, hypothetical reasons-not being realistic :) Jim can beat the no 4 & 5 team fairly straightforwardly however!

Looking at the Rankings by country is so interesting. So interesting infact, I'm gonna crank up my posts, and post it here :D.

I should've called this the 'if' thread. We're saying if a/both Bryan(s) are unable to play through injury, or possibly drug scandals ;) Although from the look of their matching outfits, they're still spoon fed their meals, so unless their parents slipped something in, its' unlikely.

If one Bryan Brother were injured before PMac named the team, he would probably leave the team off and go with two singles players, such as Mardy and James. If you imagine a DC team without the Bryans and without Andre (who will only play in the US) than you would have to pick from Andy, Vince, Mardy, Taylor, Robby, James, and JanMike. You'd probably be looking at Andy, Taylor, Mardy and James in that case with Robby as the alternate. Taylor is not very good at doubles, oddly enough, Robby is still learning that he can be good at doubles, so Andy and Taylor would be the singles players, and James and Mardy would be the doubles team, and PMac would have all kinds of options to switch them around. I don't think Vince is ever going to be on the DC team again, regardless of his ranking. I heard from someone who was there in Sevilla with them and she said it was just awkward when he was around.

That's the only thing I don't respect Andre regarding-the whole DC issue.

Why don't you respect Andre for it? I think this is probably going to be his last year on tour, and he sees it as the opportunity to be something special. The other guys (and also the guys who were left off the team to give him the spot) all seem to be psyched. They have one goal - to win the DC. Andre gives them a good shot at it - even though his hip has been spotty and so has his play, he definitely should be able to put all his energy into playing one great best-of-5 match, and he's still better than Mardy and James and Robby and Taylor, sadly.

Why are you alluding to the Bryans doping? If you don't like them for whatever reason, that's fine but I haven't heard any reason to suspect them of doping :scratch:

And I agree with Fee, PMac would go with James and Mardy as the doubles team - they are solid enough singles players so that they *could* sub in, but they are also pretty good doubles players too.

As for playing Andy with one of the twins - I didn't make that up, PMac said that at some point last year when Mike's hip was questionable. I think Mardy/Bob would be a better team than Andy/Bob because Mardy is a much better doubles player, but if Andy wanted to do it PMac would probably let him play lol.

I think the ultimate point that Fee and I both tried to make is that if the Bryans - this team who basically guarantees us a point (as much as possible) - are unavailable, then he's going to go back to the safer route of having people who could be singles options in there.

Misinterperated again-I was joking. Thought it was obvious from the twins gag... I don't dislike them at all... They're awesome-I love doubles hence...

And I said I agreed before Fee posted.

Probably would let him play (!) Although as for Andy serve volleying every point :lol:

And again, I agreed. This thread was only a bit of fun. Obviously the doubles is always a whitewash, its guaranteed by the World no.1s

I see your point - I think he's just doing what he feels like he can feasibly do with his body.
