Murray - Foot fault?
Murray had a faulty foot in the AO final that arguably prevented him playing to his ability. Despite this, from the time of the injury he still made Djokovic work hard for the win.
Perhaps the more difficult semi and one less day of rest was to blame or perhaps Murray is simply not sufficiently 'bullet-proof'. But if the injury had not occurred, do you think Murray had a real chance? |
Re: Murray - Foot fault?
I don't think there's really any question to be honest.

Re: Murray - Foot fault?
It definitely had an effect but probably only on the closeness of the loss.

Re: Murray - Foot fault?
The feather contributed to a double fault and hindered his chance of a 2-set lead and being close to the finish line where he would've been able to mentally deal with the pain better.

Re: Murray - Foot fault?
Without the foot problem Murray would have won something like 7-6, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2

Re: Murray - Foot fault?
I think it would have been tight- even though I would have still favoured Djokovic I would not have been confident

Re: Murray - Foot fault?
if he is seriously affected by blisters then he's in the wrong sport.
it most likely had no impact whatsoever. when the adrenaline is pumping there shouldn't be any pain from something so minor. he lost a toenail or two in the US Open final and it didn't affect him. |
Re: Murray - Foot fault?
 murray's gentle AO draw should be a safegurad against threads like this. the thread is just
