his 2012 wasn't as impressive as 2011 so he'll have a field of point gaining
on the other hand, seems that murray can be a threat in the next year (i guess?) once he unblocked his slam account
also, fed is not that far away, and nole defends AO points early in the season
rafa won't give up for sure, but he typically needs time after he comes back from injuries, so he won't be a threat right away (also i think he'll just try to play as much clay as possible comparing to taking lighter schedule on other surfaces)

good news for nole is that new players that can attack top position are nowhere to be seen

this 2017 is not unrealistic

It will take a huge surprise somewhere for him not to pass Edberg, so top-10 looks more than likely. Still, best to focus on Edberg for now. Focus on Nadal can wait until after he's confirmed past Hewitt.

He will also surpass Olderer and Nadull in slams IMO, easily. Adje Nole, you are the best player ever to play this sport... no one is as good as you :rocker2: :bowdown:

Might happen. Djokovic could rack up plenty of weeks as #1, similar to the likes of Lendl, Connors and McEnroe. Doesn't necessarily mean he will end up winning 11+ slams like Federer, Sampras, Borg. Piling up many weeks as #1 will be easier for a consistent, very rarely injured, all surface player like Djokovic. Hitting 11 or more slams will be harder.

Looks like a reasonable bet that he will make it happen. Fed looks to coast and grab maybe a slam while not caring about #1 ranking... Nadal will take some time to climb back... Murray??? The wild card. Anyone bet he steals #1 for a few weeks? I'm a taker

Djokovic has a healthy lead over Federer and especially over Murray. He'll likely stay at nr.1 even if he doesn't win AO. I'd think his ranking might be under threat at IW/Miami earliest.

Anyway, I believe Djokovic will still be no. 1 for the most part next year and may still be the YE no.1, so yes he will surpass Nadal, like how it should be.
