well he had defeated Wiersholm many times before

Pity that they look for an experience with adults and they do meet each other in first round again

Looks it lasted less than their 4 hour-match last year in Orange Bowl 14.

Adams won his first round ? Surely Kozlov can beat him : I think his junior ranking is better than Adams's.

USA futures events at the start of the year are always strong enough, but as the year goes on, their level is really low sometimes. Last week not one player belonged in the quarterfinal of a futures event. This time two 14 year olds against each other and the winner gets Adams

are you kidding? Singh is a challenger level player. The others in the quarters were all worthy.

I expect Adams to beat Kozlov. Adams is 18 and more advanced than Kozlov right now.

Adams is actually one of the top American juniors and he shares a coach with Ryan Harrison (Grant Doyle). His itf junior ranking is low b/c he doesn't play a lot of itf tournaments. A lot of American juniors don't play itfs, but instead focus on USTA events. I don't see Kozlov getting past Adams tbh. Like out_here_grindin said, Adams is a lot more advanced and he is also a lot bigger and stronger than Stefan.

I watched Kozlov against Broady at Wimbledon. I was shocked when he took a set from him. Dunno what type of future he has, though.

I wouldn't be surprised! He conducted himself very well on court, and found a way around the big difference in presence and stature, when I saw him. Looked very competent for somebody of his age.

I'm cautiously optimistic

Patience is the key. He may well have a great future, but we can't expect big things from him until maybe in 5 years' time.

Do you think the fact that he's playing top level junior tennis so young will influence him to try to break the senior game younger than other players usually do?

Yep, patience is of the utmost important. Hope some people have learned from the Donald Young fiasco. This goes for all young Americans TBH.

And I do, mixed in with junior events.

The person that said that must not know much about tennis. Same thing with people that don't understand how talented Tomic is

Kozlov had a lot of game from what I saw of him. Pretty crafty, with a lot of heart.

How would you describe his play style?

I haven't seen him play a full match yet, just some clips of him from this year on youtube. And I don't think his play style is easy to categorize. Tracy Austin said he reminded her of Hingis, I think because of how he is great at redirecting the ball. He has also been compared to Tomic because of his touch and intuition for the game.

Btw, a couple of threads about 14 year olds on GM right now
