Not the best quality match but I'm happy Kubot won a match after losing the first set.
In third set, he was patient and quite strong mentally which is new. The doubles title helped for sure.

How needed was this win:

Kubot won after he lost the first set. It happens first since Rotterdam, it was against Dolgopolov. It's fantastic if you remember what happened in IW/Miami.

Since Rotterdam, it's his second win in three sets in best of 3 format. In GSs or DC matches he lost/won all in three.

I wish Dodig would get out of this slump he's in. He shouldn't be losing to players like Kubot. :facepalm:

This is his normal level. There are reasons why he didn't hit the Top 100 until he was 26....

Surprised though that the scoreline. As if Kubot could win a game from a set down, particularly against Dodig.
