Steven Diez
Lost today to Salamanca (World No. 238, fmr No. 138) by a bad scoreline and in terms of total no. of points lost, 50 points to 70, but Diez had 11 breakpoints to Salamanca's 6. Trouble was Salamanca saved 10 of the ones he faced and Diez just 1. He would seem to have the talent and hopefully with experience he'll develop into a player who plays the big points well.

Re: Steven Diez
he's playing qualifying in barcelona
dropped the first set 4-6 to joao sousa he's 0/6 on break points and sousa is 1/3 we can definately identify a weakness already. Poor play on those break points. I really doubt its been the opponent every single time |
Re: Steven Diez
A lot of the breakpoints he had were on 2nd serves too, where otherwise he was winning half the points. And judging by the scoreboard, many of those BPs went by really quickly, so my guess is he didn't get the return in play.

Re: Steven Diez
4-6, 0-6
i really do not know what happened in that second set. But after he missed all those break points in that 4-4 game he just completely went away he earned 4 points off his service and 4 on return in the 2nd set my guess would be a mental implosion |
Re: Steven Diez
Diez is done, 64 60, he had 6 chances to break in set 1, converted none, his serve was decent though.

Re: Steven Diez
Diez into the Final. Just a little hiccup in the SF when he lost the 1st set, but other than that it has been plain sailing.

Re: Steven Diez
Hot Diez is back. He is through to the SF of the Poland 15K, for the loss of 9 games. Highest ranked opponent: 726. Now it gets tougher - he plays the #1 seed

Re: Steven Diez
Diez just beat Balasz 75 76 :worship:
Was serving at 5-3 in the second set and stuck with it even after getting broken! Low ranked Polish player in the final - though the guy has played well all week and beat the number 2 seed in the first round. But a great chance for Steven to take the title! |
Re: Steven Diez
Diez takes the title. 7-5, 6-3. Very nice week for him.
