Dirk Nowitzki could have been another Karlovic
Let's change the mood for a second.
The greatest European basketball player of all-time Dirk Nowitzki used to be a very good tennis player back in the early 90's. He played in the juniors against Tommy Haas. They were both born in '78. I saw some footage on YouTube where he's hitting some tennis balls. His forehand looks quite huge and of course he's 2.13 tall. He would have had a monster serve. Just imagine what it could have been. A few Wimbledon semis and a Davis Cup-final for Germany. Well, tennis lost but basketball won. |

Serve bot academy will dominate ATP in few years

Re: Dirk Nowitzki could have been another Karlovic
yeah maybe. Some basketball players really defy the normal rules by being agile despite 2m+. But I do think he would have been a bit too heavy just like other giants. Serve would kick ass, groundgame he'd probably be a bit too heavy. Just like Isner he'd get fatigued/injured in long 5 set tournaments or if he does well in one tournament and has another one next week.
Isn't it also odd that tennis doesn't see more black players? I think a Kobe Bryant physique is pretty much optimal for tennis. Almost 2m exactly, around 90kg. Some of those NBA players are such raw physical talent that they'd no doubt once had potential for tennis, with the right trainers ofc |

Oh, you want more Rafa vs. Fed vs. Nole cat fights? There should be about 200 of those already here. I quote myself: Let's change the mood for a second. It's about tennis and a professional athlete, so I think it qualifies quite well. |

Yes, Isner could never win a long match....especially if he had to play on consecutive days! |
Re: Dirk Nowitzki could have been another Karlovic
Itīs not too late to see Isner as a NBA player, a servebot less in the your. We all win.

Re: Dirk Nowitzki could have been another Karlovic
At least Dirk would have been a mental giant on the court. His clutch performances on the basketball court show that. He would have no problems serving for matches. No choking there. He would never be Dirk Mugitzki.

Dirk is a mug... Go Heat!

Dirk vs. James in the 4th quarters: Dirk 62 points, James 19 points. That's just scary. In tennis terms it was Dirk-James 6-2,6-1. |
