Re: Delpo Wins R2 for Argies in DC QF

YES! It was easy and very stable -- no slippery grass underfoot.
I only saw the first set, but Juan looked good!

... to be continued ...

Re: Delpo Wins R2 for Argies in DC QF

Kuku (kukushkin) wasn't a pushover, and he fought hard to try to find a way, but no matter what he tried, Delpo went thru him like a Mack truck (not to mention some well-timed forays to the net) :bounce:

... cont.

Thanks for the screen shots :yeah: Worked 12 hours yesterday so never had time to check although I did not even know they were playing :silly:  General elections on a Sunday who would have thought :p I had been hoping to catch those matches today on my day off. Oh well.
More than likely Argie will win the doubles and JM won't play on Sat.

Re: Delpo Wins R2 for Argies in DC QF

schedule update:
cobalt60 was correct: delpo has been replaced with chela to play golubev ... and monaco h/b replaced w/Schwank to play Kuku

could still be interesting ... I know chela will do well, but I'm curious about schwank, as he's improved steadily over the past year or so.

anyway, thanks to delpo for his excellent performance ... hope he gets in on day one of the u.s.open series so he can make a little extra ca$h by the time of the USOpen!

stay rested, delpo dear

Re: Delpo Wins R2 for Argies in DC QF

:yeah: I was actually right about something :p JK I knew he would not play unless it was absolutely necessary to win. The smart thing to do.

Re: Davis Cup 2011 Final in Valencia, Spain

Found this online and translated regarding DC. Nice pic of JM coming home. Anyone know if that's his mom behind him? http://www.canchallena.com/1421371-l...ida-de-ajedrez

They lack little more than 20 days for the end of the Glass Davis, between Argentina and Spain, in Seville. But for several days that already gamble what if outside a chess game, with each protagonist hiding the pieces and evaluating at great length the movements before realising them. While in Paris last Masters 1000 of the year is disputed and the three places for the Glass of Teachers are defined last - in London, from the 20 of present, Argentine and the Spanish the challenges of the 2, 3 and 4 of December save energies imagining on the brick dust of the Olympic stage. Except for Juan Monaco, who after one week very positive in Valencia, where she was finalist, will today appear in Paris Bercy before the Donald American Young (last turn, televises ESPN), all the members of the Argentine equipment already are in Buenos Aires, thinking only about gaining the Salad bowl. Juan Martin of the Colt returned last night to our country, after to decide not to act and to risk in Paris by an annoyance in the right shoulder, although still chances had some few to classify itself for London. Delpo, that advanced in the ranking until the position 12°, prioritized Davis, as of today it will take days of rest and it will consult his personal doctor to perfectly know the degree the ailment. But he would not have problems in beginning with the tests on brick dust fields from the next week, previous passage by the kinesiólogo, clearly. The Vilas Club was yesterday in the evening a luck of place of encounter of many men who will travel to Spain. Because there, where the Topper Glass gambles, they attended Tito Vázquez and Ricardo Argentine Creek, captain and subcaptain, and observed - with preoccupation the encounter of Eduardo Schwank (alternative like doblista), who fell 6-2 and 6-3 with the Brazilian Ricardo Mello. Vázquez returned hours ago of Valencia, where it met with his Spanish pair, Albert Coast, and decided some points, like the schedules of training. In Palermo, also it was yesterday Facundo Bagnis, that will travel to Seville like sparring. Vázquez wants to take advantage of the condition of left-handed person who shows the youthful one so that he emulates in the training some movements of Rafael Nadal, Fernando Verdasco and Feliciano Lopez, rivals with the same capable hand. David Nalbandian, one of strong letters of Argentina, he was another one of which were yesterday in the Vilas. The Cordovan, who underwent a distension in the left isquiotibial approximately 15 days ago and by that reason under the circuit, made the rehabilitation in Unquillo and today he will begin to realise tennis exercises in Buenos Aires. Juan Ignacio Chela, another one of the players who will travel to Spain, also retook the practices along with his trainer, Pablo Source, after deciding not to act in Paris. Then, the next week, already peaky in our country, the five players and the technical body of Argentina will be joined in Buenos Aires and will begin to give more form to the great dream. Naturally, Spain also unfolds its strategy. Nadal, the leader of the Navy, decided to take care of its machinery not participating in Paris Bercy. Number 2 of the world trains in Majorca with two objectives: Davis, but before yearns for to gain the Glass of Teachers, match that never obtained. There, in London, also Ferrer will play. By this appointment, both players will have less time to practice on the slow surface that will have Davis, although is no discussion about which the Spaniards are the kings in the brick dust. Verdasco, protagonist in the end of the Glass Davis 2008, in Mar del Plata, said to him yesterday to EFE: " We cannot commit the error to believe to us favorite. Argentina has revenge desire. Now it is the other way around and we must learn of the error of ellos". Every time it reduces less for the end; nobody has been wanting to show its pieces, the game began for short while…
