Christian Lindell
Surprised no-one have started a thread about our new star Christian Lindell.
He was growing up in Brazil and his father is Swedish and mother from Brazil. He got a brealthrough in Swedish Open this year when he lost 6-4 in the 3rd set in the 1:St rd against Jarkko Nieminen. From then on he have played future events in Brazil and made it to 2 straight finals. This week he is in the semifinal in a 15.000 $ future. If Christian continues to progress this way , it´s just a matter of time before he´s up and competing with the top 100 in the world. Vamo Christian!!! |

Re: Christian Lindell
he withdrew from next future...maybe he needs a rest!
Is scheduled to play the next future, and withdrew from the one the week after... |
Re: Christian Lindell
Cool, a thread.
Christian played the S$10,000+H in Fortaleza, Brazil this week and won the first round but then lost to Juan-Pablo Villar(ARG, 464). He looks pretty stable against opponents in the 5-700 range so it should be just a matter of time if he keeps going until he cracks top500. Right now he's at 640. In five futures after Båstad he has 2 finals, 1 semifinal, 1 R16 and 1 R32. Best of luck to him. |
Re: Christian Lindell
Christian is playing a challenger in Belo Horizonte, Brazil this week. He got in with a wild card, good to see. Here's the draw. He has Marcel Felder(URU) in the first round. Christian is now ranked at 565 by the way.

Re: Christian Lindell
A win that will take him another 30 or so spots up in the rankings, another win and he'll be sniffing top500 :yeah: Interestingly, the top3 seeds all lost in the 1st round.

Re: Christian Lindell
Lindell was in doubles finals!!! Will be 500 or so in doubles now!!! :)
next week another future in brazil for him! |
Re: Christian Lindell
526 in singles and 578 doubles now :yeah: I have a feeling he might sniff the second rubber in DC next year.

Re: Christian Lindell
- It feels nice and all the hard work that I have done has paid off. Now I have reached my goal to reach the top 500 this year and have a few more races and perhaps could climb further. Next year I aim to peak 200th It will be difficult, but I will work hard for it, "said Christian Lindell.
Back home in Brazil, he is well placed in the fray with training on Amil's training center and tough sparring with João Souza, who is ranked just outside the Top 100. This summer's wild card in the ATP tournament in Bastad also helped to lose a little respect for top players. - Seeing that I was so close to winning an ATP match gave me confidence and made it easier to go to the smaller futures tournaments. I realized that the difference was not so great, "he explains. When futures point from the weekend, which lags a week, counted Lindell will be Sweden Line with his ranking just inside 500 on the ATP list. Thinking that possibly the Davis Cup? - It is a goal for me to ever play the Davis Cup and right now, Sweden has not many options on two singles? But it is far to March and it's a long way to go. We'll see what happens, "says Lindell. |
Re: Christian Lindell
Lindell lost in a tough 3rd set tiebreaker vs Neis this time..but still takes home 2 points for his rankings to again climb up a little bit! Now he goes on for 2 futures in brazil and i do not know if he will play qualies in Sao Paolo challenger.
