Re: Wild Cards

Devvarman should get the Asian WC, as he's the highest ranked Asian player outside the main draw...

Code:

126 Devvarman, Somdev (IND) 441
...
132 Kukushkin, Mikhail (KAZ) 409
133 Golubev, Andrey (KAZ) 407

it depends which date they consider the ranking : his ranking will decrease brutally after Chennai where he reached the final last year. And it's one week before Melbourne.

I hope so. Maybe Nishikori if he's fit.

Those two Kazakhs aren't even a "real" Asians...

Re: Wild Cards

Is Marsel Ilhan eligible for the Asian WC?

Not only he comes from a half-Asian country, as he was born in Uzbekistan.

If he's eligible, he may get it due to his US Open + Fall run.

As for the French WC, these are the first ten players outside the main draw...

Code:

108 Robert, Stephane (FRA) 508 Age: 29
130 Ouanna, Josselin (FRA) 414 Age: 23
138 Recouderc, Laurent (FRA) 380 Age: 23
140 De Chaunac, Sebastien (FRA) 375 Age: 32
146 Guez, David (FRA) 347 Age: 27
152 Ascione, Thierry (FRA) 334 Age: 28
153 Roger-Vasselin, Edouard (FRA) 327 Age: 26
171 Rufin, Guillaume (FRA) 287 Age: 19
179 Mannarino, Adrian (FRA) 263 Age: 21
181 Sidorenko, Alexandre (FRA) 260 Age: 21

Rufin stands out for me from there...

Re: Wild Cards

Rufin or Ouanna, I guess.
They announced it very late last year (during the Noumea Challenger).

Re: Wild Cards

I think it should go to Rufin. Jumped the rankings big time this year, won his first Challenger and hasn't had many opportunities at the higher level. Ouanna and Recouderc have had some chances. Sidorenko and Mannarino had a bad year. Roger-Vasselin, as much as I like him, showcases no entitlement to this, nor do oldies Guez, Ascione and De Chaunac. The same doesn't really hold true for Stéphane Robert, for whom a WC would be an acknowledgement of his great accomplishments this year, but he might actually sneak into the MD on his own merit. In any case, it should be between him and Rufin, but for WCs I prefer going with the younger player.

Re: Wild Cards

I hope they give the WC to Ouanna, but it'll surely go to Rufin.

Re: Wild Cards

I had completely forgotten about him because he was not in Labamba's list, but Grosjean actually is the favourite to get the FFT wild-card.
