Stockholm Open flyttas

Stockholm Open flyttas, inte geografiskt men tidsmässigt. I stället för att konkurrera med bland annat Basel-turneringen, ska den avgöras i början av oktober.

- Självklart är det positivt för oss, vi har haft både tur och skicklighet när det gäller den här flytten, säger turneringschefen Per Hjertquist.

Stockholm Open har tidigare legat i slutet av oktober, samma vecka som turneringarna i Basel och S:t Petersburg avgörs. I ATP:s schema för nästa tennisår har man nu genomfört en rad ändringar, bland annat en mycket lyckosam sådan för Stockholm Open.

Tävlingen kommer i stället att avgöras i början av oktober och konkurrera med Wien och Metz, två betydligt lättare konkurrenter när det gäller kampen om spelare.

- Vi har tidigare legat under en oerhört tuff vecka, jag kan säga att det är den tuffaste under hela året när det gäller storleken på prispengar, förklarar Hjertquist.

Dessutom kommer nu Stockholm Open att genomföras före Masters Series-tävlingen i Madrid, vilket är betydligt mera gynnsamt än att ligga mellan Madrid och Paris som båda har Masters series-status, det vill säga rankas snäppet under de fyra Grand slam-turneringarna.

The basic translation is that they will move the tournament dates to same slot as Vienna and Metz, instead of competing with Basle and St.Petersburg and the tournament director is very happy about the new timeslot.

Sorry Steph, but I am happy about this change!
Had always trouble to go to Stockholm in the end of october because
of my work.
But we cannot influence it though...

thats not quite right
3 Oct is Tokyo and Metz
10 Oct is Vienna Moscow and Stockholm

thats not clever having 3 big IS events in one week :rolleyes: :mad:
Vienna and Tokyo should both be in same week really.

plus it would be better to have St Petersburg and Moscow in consectutive weeks...... now they have Moscow, fly to Madrid, then fly all way back again :rolleyes: )
