This is prior to the AO, so Federer will move up. Last to crack this list was Agassi.

What comes out when you divied this over the number of grand sla tournmanets that they played?

Most efficient is Borg.

I don't even need to do the calculating to tell you that.

JediFed 01-31-2009 08:32 AM

Re: All-time Open Era Grand Slam wins

Code:

Borg    5.222 wins/Grand Slam
Federer  4.476 wins/Grand Slam
Connors  4.103 wins/Grand Slam
Sampras  3.904 wins/Grand Slam
Lendl    3.895 wins/Grand Slam
McEnroe  3.711 wins/Grand Slam
Agassi  3.672 wins/Grand Slam
Becker  3.543 wins/Grand Slam
Edberg  3.296 wins/Grand Slam
Wilander 3.273 wins/Grand Slam

Borg is the only one in Tennis who AVERAGED a QF in every slam he entered, with more then 100 total Grand Slam Match wins.

Federer now, as of USO 2009 is up to 4.476 over 42 slams.

Can you go way down to Nadal (99 and hopefully 100 in some 11 hours time)?

Re: All-time Open Era Grand Slam wins

He's still behind Hewitt (126) and behind Roddick (106).

Those are the only other actives who are close. Safin only had 95. Hewitt needs another 12 more to pass Borg.

Table corrected. Nadal, Kafelnikov and Nastase are all off the list while tennis Legendas Ferreira, Martin and Smith added. Roddick now just 10 behind Chang for the 'One shot wonder' award.

To put it this way, 120 is the equivalent of 24 semifinals.

Where do you guys think Federer will end up on this list? My bet is he'll surpass Connors either at Wimbledon or the US Open next year.

Re: All-time Open Era Grand Slam wins

If Federer wins every GS match he will surpass:
Sampras (203)in Wimbledon this year
Lendl (222) in Australian Open 2011
Agassi (224) in French Open 2011 and
Connors (233) in US Open 2011

Records still coming :)

He doesn't even need to do that. He could 'just' get to the final of the remaining majors this year, and then to the quarters of all four next year. That'd equal Connors' 233 at the US Open in 2011.

Amazing that this longevity record is now almost a shoe-in!
