ATTENTION Kiefer fans!!!! --- Kiwi in Halle!!!!

.

...Halle!!! :) :clap2: :bounce:
(grass)

woooooooohooooooooooooooooooooo
:woohoo:

Kiefer likes to come to Halle since the very beginning of his career!

Since he won this tournament in 1999, he is posting a fucking strong 16-4 record in Halle.
  • He won in 1999!!!! (breezed through without losing a set!)
  • quarter final 2000: unlucky 3rd set tiebreaker loss to Richard Krajicek (who went on to the final after that)
  • 2nd round 2001: Kiwi lost a thriller, 3 tiebreaks in that match, unfortunately he got unlucky again and lost the 3rd set tiebreak to Jonas Bjorkman
  • another final appearance 2002: lost in three sets to Kafelnikov
  • another final for Kiwi in 2003!: he only could have been beaten by eventual Wimbledon dominator Roger Federer

I wish you the best for 2004, Kiwi!!!! :worship:

yes, that's really bad... :banghead:
would have been almost perfect I saw him in Munich.
I've heard some people talking about him that the tournament didn't fit well into his tournament schedule.
But actually I don't know how much truth is in it.

maybe someone else knows...

He decided to take the week off, which didn't go down well at all with the Munich organisers. Maybe he's not such a popular player here with the fans, who knows?

I think Kiefer is by far the underdog with the fans when it comes to pupularity of the fans. Schüttler and Haas receive much more attention, no question.
Yesterday I heard some people next to me also talking about Kiwi. One asked "hey, where is Kiefer in the draw?", and the other one answered "maybe he is in a quarrel with the tournemant here" lol, tyical for his reputation what many people think about him  ;)

oh Kiwi, I like you though, no matter what they others are saying  :)

Maybe Thomas Högstedt could not be in Munich.
But I don't know. I just know that Kiefer was at Hannover vs. Stuttgart (soccer) on Sunday, when Schuettler was playing the final.

less than one week to go! :clap2: :drive:

I hope Kiwi gets a good draw... looks like he won't be seeded as he is only the 9th best player on the entry list participating in this tournament.

Federer, Ferrero, Schüttler, Nalbandian, Novak, Verkerk, Fish, Safin, Haas

holy shit!!!!!!!  look at these names!

at least I hope that Roger isn't in Nicolas' half and that Safin isn't a first round match-up against Kiwi, Nalbandian showed with his great run in Wimbledon also that he is capable of playing on grass.

There are many tough opponents in there this year. I hope Kiwi gets a favorable draw, if yes let's hope he gets some wins and good results :)

Unfortunately, it looks like there are more players better than Kiwi in the ranking.
Pavel, Lopez, Björkman, Ljubicic and Clement has 1005 points like Kiefer.

I think Safin and Nalbandian are not sure to play here, but the superstar of Halle won't be seeded.

if you or anybody know any news then tell us :)

please, get a good draw, Nicolas!!!!
I was really pissed off because he met Federer in the 2nd round in RG. Sure, Roger didn't play his best tennis this day, but it was an above average day for Nicolas and I still believe he could have beaten many other 2nd round opponents this day if he hadn't drawn Roger so early :banghead:

I have no news, but I can't imagine that Nalbandian will play, if he play on Sunday this week, like Ferrero did last year.
And on Eurosport Stich said that Safins hands could be a problem for the next weeks.

yes, that's right... I remember it also that Stich said it would take several days for Safin and his hands to recover... so it would be definatley not wise to play again and risking the advanced but not yet finished healing.

but good fact with Ferrero! Didn't know that Ferrero was originally in for Halle last year, but pulled out because he played the FO final on Sunday.

Re: ATTENTION Kiefer fans!!!! --- Kiwi in Halle!!!!

Kiwi outguns Lars 6-3 6-4

here is the short interview from the homepage :D

Quote:

That was a tidy beginning, wasn’t it?
Yes, I’m completely satisfied. I didn’t play any match for ten days, so at first I tried to get into the match. My advantage today was especially my service. And in two important games I returned pretty well and could pass him a few times. That was decisive. From the baseline my game was not yet as good as I introduce myself. But I won in two clear sets. I hope it will go on this way.

How do you feel to be back on grass?
That was a mad feeling. Nevertheless I had some great victories and good experiences here on grass. I was always able to get a lot of confidence. The crowd here is of course particular motivating. Playing tennis at home in beautiful weather makes more fun than anywhere else.

Is grass your favourite surface?
The grass in Halle is my favourite surface.

What did you do last week?
I practiced really hard and really a lot, especially my fitness because of the following weeks with the start of the hard-court season and the Olympics. I need to create a good basic for these challenges, therefore I was a little bit tired today. I need a break tomorrow because on Thursday a really hard opponent is waiting. Both, Safin and Björkman, are hard to fight, and I never played against Safin on grass before. It’ll be a really tough match, probably two or three balls will be decisive. I have to be high concentrated and I need a pretty good service. Of course, you need some luck, too.
