I will use Johnny's same format for the first post. And I will also retro-award November to Almagro and December to USTA based on the nominations made in the 2012 thread.

Kind of similar to the bandwagon player of the month award, this one is given to the player who loses terribly against people they should win against, sucks horribly, loses people money, says something arseclownish in an interview, has an incident in a match, whatever the case may be, but anything that gives that player "Mug Points"

Other criteria involve:

1. Playing well below your capability.

2. Mental incapacity (AKA: lack of balls)

3. Losing to someone you really shouldn't

4. Failing to live up to expectation

5. Losing Jaap or dylan money

6. Saying dumb shit in interviews, yelling at umpires, yelling at ballboys , and general arse-clowning

7. (Applies to organizations: bad organizing, play conditions, letting rain fall too much, or having pot holes on the courts)

Shame I missed Almagro's "performance".
Just buy some tickets to the local circus, what you will see won't be much different from what Ferrer and Almagro delivered yesterday, especially late 3rd set and the entire 4th set.

It wasn't just a regular choke.

It was a laughable, gut wrenching, heart breaking, feeble, shameful, shambolic, pathetic, unbelievable, shanking, piss it all away, throw it down the drain, mental midget, monstrosity, career defining, psyche scarring, ridiculous, horror show of a mega choke.

He's blown the biggest oppotunity of his career, let's give Nico some consolation with this award.

Served three times (not including the tiebreak) for the match. Zero MPs. Six breaks of serve, 4 breaks after going up 2 sets.

Re: 2013 MTF Mug of the Month

All eyes turn to Sao Paulo. There is a GREAT chance someone from there will take this month.

Nalbandian vs Fognini R2, Almugro vs Zeballos R2, Almugro vs Nalbandian/Fognini R3, possible rematch of Nadal vs Bellucci :haha:

Only Fiasco is missing. Only Fiasco.

Well I got to watch Brands despite that bullshit so I'm not pissed anymore. I guess forget about Rotterdam :)

Nadal is obviously off limits this month. Tsonga seems legit, but look out for Del Potro, Almagro, Berdych and Isner to put in some memorable performances and maybe steal the title.

Re: 2013 MTF Mug of the Month

You are in a town where you have been in constant trouble with the police for breaking traffic laws......so what do you do?

hmmm....let me see - how about try to be inconspicuous by driving a bright yellow ferrari convertible and then speeding?

Surely this qualifies Tomic under criteria 6

January 30. This does not qualify for February. And this performance from Tomic cannot surpass Almagro's almighty performance of the month of January.

Re: 2013 MTF Mug of the Month

I don't know what Tomic had to do to beat Almugro in January. Maybe get sent to jail
Not just get arrested, but close to getting out early for "good behavior" three times, only to end up with a full sentence.
