Nicely done by Fed...a potentially dangerous opponent disarmed in energy conserving fashion. All good.

As ever, there are a lot of quite critical appraisals of Fed's early round performances...c'est la vie. Davydenko came out blazing but wasn't allowed to get it done today. Fed held the baseline tight and made Davy come unstuck by giving it back faster and harder than even "playstation" could handle. Too many UE's obv....but he is still playing himself into form. It was never anything other than a comfortable progression.

Next up: Tomic the Tank Engine.

This is a pretty easy draw for Federer imo. Davydenko is well past it, Tomic is no threat to him, Fed will routine him like last year then it's either Raonic or Kholschrieber. Well either one of those 2 will lose most likely in 4 sets and then a potential qtr final against Tsonga who looks a little under done (maybe he'll pick up form) he didn't look too impressive today. The only really tough part is the semi final. Murray could prove to be very tough for Fed especially considering it's a SF and not final and Murray has confidence he can take 3 sets off Fed now. The final will most likely be against Novak where if he gets through Murray he'll most likely lose to Nole since he's never taken a set off Novak since AO went plexicushion.

It is easy compared to what really?

We analyse who could possibly be more dangerous than Davydenko in rd2?

I look beyond the 32 seeds and I find only Benneteau who is anywhere close to that dangerous, mostly because of matchup issues.

Who is more dangerous than Tomic to face in rd3? No one.

Who is more dangerous than Raonic in rd4? Specially considering that every match between them have been close, maybe Gilles Simon would be worse but that is the only one I could think of.

Who is more dangerous than Tsonga in QF? Only Berdych for Federer.

Muray is 10 times more dangerous than Ferrer.

So this is the most difficult draw you could give Federer if you handpicked his opponents, except changing Tsonga with Berdych. It is not an easy draw.

This is so obvious and easy to see. I guess some people have been blinded by the "Roger always gets easy draw" propaganda. Of course Roger does sometimes get easy draws but he gets also as many tough draws. People are like a broken record.

It's not that we expect Roger to lose against Tomic or Raonic but that they are harder when compared to other possible players for that round. The chances of an upset although always small, when it comes to the big 4 in a slam, are higher when you face opponents like Roger will in this year's AO.

What a joke.Mugdenko is a first class loser.I'm not sure what I want now,Tomic to beat Muger and end his QF streak or Djoko King to straight set him in the final. What would hurt more?I don't know,I really don't know.

If he is first class loser, what does this mean? :p

since the first break and after seeing every Denko game is breakeable started the training session.

That's why Roger doesn't need preps before GSs, coz he does'em in the first few rounds.

Tomic will get tornadoed.

Craptacular match, where both players sucked. Rog will need to lift up another notch or the Nard Dogger will probably send him packing.

Imagine a world where Djokovic had to play in this kind of heat to win a slam. You think he would straight sets one of the most talented players of the past 20 years? Even as an old man Fed deals with everything thrown at him with GOAT style, without the help of 'gluten-free eggs' :worship:

For the sake of justice, let's hope Fed continues to steamroll and throws a win in the face of the tennis media and the ATP :aparty:

all this nonsense about tough draw or easy draw. Have all of you been living under a rock the past 4 or so years? The Rosol match was an anomaly; the top-4 guys get to the SF more often than not, regardless of the draw. Fact is, a very limited number of players on a very very good day, stand a chance against any of the top-4, when they are atleast slightly off.

Federer was never in any danger against either Paire or Davydenko, and I'd be highly surprised if Tomic' apathy will throw him off. Same goes for Djokovic and Murray. Ferrer is not as good as these guys so he'll have a harder time.
