Andy Murray on clay. Will he ever win a clay title?
With all his moon balling and great tactician tennis, wouldn't his game translate well on clay? I don't understand why his results aren't so good on clay. I know he was injuried last year and didn't have a chance to play during the clay court season, but still...
Re: Will Andy "Clayray" Murray ever reach a clay final?
If Murray really cared about that stat he'd have done what Nadal did on his comeback. If Nadal and Nole are drawn on the same half in the remaining big tournaments, Murray will slay his way to the finals. Heard it here 1st!
Re: Will Andy "Clayray" Murray ever reach a clay final?
I wouldn't ever rule out Andy to win ANY event, even clay ones. It may not be his best surface but it does not change the fact he is one of the best players in the world and if he is playing his best he is very difficult to stop.

Re: Will Andy "Clayray" Murray ever reach a clay final?
Troll back in his usual roll after running away in shame like his idol after the Mickey final loss. Yes of course he will make a clay final. Dumb question.
Re: Andy Murray on clay. Will he ever win a clay title?
No, of course not. To win on clay, one has to be able to slide. Mandy's game is far too mechanical to slide.
Only reason he has gotten so far in Roland Garros is because of chokers (Troicki), pigeons (Gasquet,Simon) and opponents feeling sorry for his slight injury (Nieminen, Berrer).
Re: Andy Murray on clay. Will he ever win a clay title?
Will he win a Masters title? At this stage, somewhat dubious. But there's no denying Murray will win a clay title in the next five years, even if it is a 250 or 500 event.
Re: Andy Murray on clay. Will he ever win a clay title?
He would have to enter a 250 first and for reasons that continue to elude me, he persists in ignoring this obvious avenue for gaining some practice and confidence on the surface

Re: Andy Murray on clay. Will he ever win a clay title?
He may win some clay title, honestly, I wish him that. Far worse players managed to win clay titles in the past. The wrong thing for him is - he plays mostly clay Masters 1000, where plays Rafa, Novak or Roger....on at least one of them...and so it's impossible for him.
If he'd desperately want clay title, he'd play some 500 or 250 and win something....it's not impossible.
Re: Andy Murray on clay. Will he ever win a clay title?
His poor performance on clay is the reason he has almost no hope to become World no.1 now, when there is player like Djokovic, who is very good on all surfaces. Look at the difference between them in rankings. Huge.... Simply, there are too many clay events, he can't afford to be mediocre on clay...

Re: Andy Murray on clay. Will he ever win a clay title?
Andy playing a 250 would be a good idea. When Nadal and Federer started out they played a lot of smaller clay tournies to build the confidence. For someone who's never had that much success on clay, it would be a good idea to play one or two smaller clay events.
Re: Andy Murray on clay. Will he ever win a clay title?
Murray hasn't competed in a 250/500 event so far this year (besides the Brisbane International). His next will probably be Queens, the only 250/500 event he is scheduled for in the remainder of 2013. Have no idea why he doesn't participate in a few minor clay tournaments, whether it be during the North American or European clay court season. He's probably scared MTF will label him as a vulture.

He went to (and won) Brisbane this year. Just to clarify.
