The thread title is self-explanatory.

Upon watching Ari Folman's beautiful and disturbing poetic masterpiece "Vals Im Bashir" (2008) I initially didn't understand why I kept having flashbacks to another fave of mine - Robert Bresson's equally beautiful and disturbing poetic masterpiece "Au Hasard Balthazar" (1966) - as the two movies aren't even remotely similar beyond both being great works of art. The confusion didn't last for a minute. Both movies use this piece to amazing effect, albeit in different ways.

Classical music can soothe the savage beast...

even a member of MTF.

MTF's soundtrack. Main theme.
The soundtrack for GM

I get the goose pimples every time, hair stands up, and experience sublime emotional terror which I cannot understand, a mystery better left unexplained, being beyond the limits of language (and thank goodness for that!). The power of music and art.

I'm not the biggest fan of Mahler, but this symphony is a beautiful piece, certainly my favourite.

Possibly the most overrated piece from the most overrated composer ever. I am not even trying to exaggerate.

This piece consists literally of nothing more than one part (the piano) arpeggiating triad chords and another part (the violin) going up and down the diatonic scale for seven minutes. C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C... B, A, G, F, E, D, C... These are things you learn in the first three months of musical training.

A true genius, this Pärt!

Yes, it is that short.

They say that about many things, but it's especially true about opera: either you love it or you hate it.

All those operas are great, but I'd recommend this one: http://www.cinecolombia.com/pelicula/bogota/opera-cosi-fan-tutte

Tosca is also a personal favourite. But again, you can't go wrong with any of those.
