Re: Commentary at its best

Jose Luis Clerc on the Federer-Del Potro match:
OMG, turn off the TV, Federer is unplayable (too good) today
(and those were his exact words, with the OMG and all  )

Re: Commentary at its best

Chris Fowler about Dementieva: "You know, service yips are like herpes, no matter what you do, they're always there and they'll never disappear and you never know when they'll come back. But you know, I'm not speaking from personal experience."

:spit: :haha: :worship:

Re: Commentary at its best

One from last week i think it was the Nadal vs Haas match. Jim Courier said " Haas is being beaten like a redheaded stepchild! I should know.. im a red headed stepchild"

:worship:
That was a classic! I love Jim Courier

Re: Commentary at its best

Whats with all the women commentators constantly saying how WTA players are amazing athletes and movers? Are they being sarcastic?

Re: Commentary at its best

The BBC are challenging Eurosport for worst commentary team.

Bailey and Lloyd are astounded that Verdasco is hitting more winners than Nadal. They can't seem to get over it, seemingly not realising that Nadal's game is about cutting out errors, remaining solid, and taking very few risk. Consequently, his opponents almost always hit more winners. The fact that Verdasco hits the ball harder than Nadal is shocking to them.

Similarly, they are gobsmacked that Verdasco is putting up a fight. Bailey literally suggested that everyone thought Nadal would roll Verdasco in 3 sets. This is despite the fact that Fernando beat Murray and Tsonga (easily in Tsonga's case), both of whom are better hard court players than Nadal. Utterly clueless ****s. They can't seem to distinguish between Rafa being invincible on clay and Rafa being merely a good hard court player.

I enjoyed Bailey's discussion about Verdasco's shaved legs. Insightful.

Re: Commentary at its best

Simon Reed: There's a bit of a breeze on court, you can see it ruffling Nadal's hair sometimes. Not verdasco though, he's wearing so much gel in his hair it'd take a hurricane to move it.

Frew McMillan: Gel in his hair...gelignite in his arm.

Too good Frew
True. Verdasco must have let Nadull cum on his hair in the locker room before the match.

Re: Commentary at its best

amuses me no end that Lloyd is Britain's Davis Cup captain. Simply outrageous levels of stupidity on display there. Bailey used to have some sort of a clue when he commentated for Sky. He must've quit watching tennis the moment he left.
Chris Bailey :inlove: He is much better on camera, than in the commentary box.

OMG I miss him so much :bigcry: :sobbing:
Not that bad, at least Andrew 'I want to suck Nadal's cock' Castle isn't commentating.
I like Andrew Castle :D
Completely agree with you, Lloyd in particular is a fucking idiot, a couple of days ago he suggested that Del Potro would beat Federer, shows how much he knows.

Then he goes on about Nadal, absolutely sucking his cock in every single line of commentary he does, it's sick.

At least there's no Andrew Castle.
Anyone that listened to the Nadal-Federer commentary and still thinks the commentators suck Nadal's cock is a moron :D
Can anyone tell me who the older sounding guy is who commentates on Britsh Eurosport, he sounds a bit like Dan Maskell? (Whom I used to actually enjoy listening to). Not so keen on this older guy, some of his commentary is very negative imo.
It will be Frew. He is the most repetitive commentator of them all. He's been saying that Nadal is slowly making better use of his f/h since 2006.

In fact, his commentary on the RG 08 semi (Nadal-Nole) is virtually word for word what he said the year before during their 07 semi. He hates Nadal, and I hate listening to him.

Re: Commentary at its best

Chris Bradnam, or was it Simon Reed (they're often interchangeable) wandered vaguely into a Barack Obama discussion in the middle of the Roddick-Federer match - even with the best will in the world I couldn't quite get the relevance.

He ended it with

"Of course, you'll have your own thoughts."

To which I couldn't help but think

"Well one of us should."

They are utterly fatuous at times.

Bradnam did that match but I would've known that from your post even if I hadn't seen it.

Reed is good commentator. One of the best in the business. He could probably sue you for that.

Incidentally, just saw this on the Eurosport wiki page:

and veteran commentator Simon Reed - brother of the late actor Oliver Reed
haha, you've got to me shitting me.

Definitely sounds like Frew MacMillan.

Re: Commentary at its best

Betfair commentator:

"Karlovic is always a joy to watch. Such an elegant player."
I think he has money on Ivo. It was similar last night, he was getting a bit carried away about Capdeville.

Works very long hours this dude. Commentating again in the afternoon after clocking off at 3am last night.

He's a big big improvement on previous guys. He can actually pronounce Spanish names and he doesn't say "forehand, backhand, forehand" during points.

German commentators during Davis Cup Germany - Austria / Schüttler vs Koubek

A: Oh my, is something wrong with the speedgun? 245! That's nearly a world record, the serves dont seem that hard, but well...
B: Sorry to have to correct you on this, but that's the time played : 2h 45min :tape:
A: Oh
