There were signs at the Olympics he was kicking on- first strike play and some much improved volleys. He'll be at the WTF for the first time since 09- a good way to test where he's at alongside the other guys.
It only depends on his health. If he gets his injuries sorted out for good, it is inevitable that he will more Slams.
If he doesn't, it's a maybe: even after wrist surgery and a niggle/injury filled comeback, there are only like a handful of players who can stop him, so it's always a possibility.
Del Mugtro was lucky that he ballbashed his way to that 09 win, but his days of lucky ballbashing are over. He's got the game to get into the QFs/SFs, but he wont be beating Djokovic, Nadull, Mugray, Federer but just being the one-dimensional ballbashing it up the middle of the court player that he is.
I'd normally agree, but who else are going to win the slams? Only Djokovic is looking like a consistent contender. Nadal will continue to have injury problems and be prone to being defeated on hardcourts, Murray will always be prone to losing to an in-form player and Federer is old.
Prone to losing to an in-form player? You mean an in-form top 4 player? Because he made at least the semis in 7 of the last 8 slams. The other showing was a QF loss to Ferrer on clay, hardly a surprise. He is also more likely to beat the 'top 3' than any other player, including del Potro.

I'm not saying he's not. I'm merely stating that I do believe Murray will suffer losses to lower ranked players at some point. Nobody would've been talking about Murray's new found mental fortitude if he had been beaten by Cilic like he should've been (his comeback had little to do with his mental strength, considering Cilic hardly put a ball in court). And if it wasn't windy, I seriously doubt he'd have got by Berdych, never mind win the final.
My point is that I think there will be an opening at some point in time for Del Potro, Murray's no Federer who was always guaranteed to win slams.
If he stays healthy, it's inevitable that he will win more Slams. But it's a big if with JMDP.
If he keeps having all these injury problems, maybe he will maybe he won't. Even while struggling with injuries every other week, there are only like a handful of players who can stop him, so he'll always have a chance.
No, there are not certainties in sport. There is no guarantee that he wins another slam even if healthy. But I agree that it's probably more likely than not.
The top 4 is not an issue. All JMDP has to worry about is fully overcoming his health issues; once/if that is taken care of, the rest will take care of itself.
Getting up to 4 in the world would be a huge help to his chances. As it is right now, he probably has to beat three Slam champions in a row to win one. If he can make 4th spot he can get draws like Ferrer did at this USO just gone and be able to compete at the business end with full fitness (he can beat a lot of guys not fully fit but the top 4 are another animal)
Wasn't that the episode where Patrick and spongebob were acting like a married couple taking care of a baby clam? ... Wait, I shouldn't know that..
Yeah so Burrow: should've lost to Cilic huh? 3 set match was it? Murray woulda coulda shoulda won the next 3 sets after going 2 sets down anyway. Luck against Berdych aye? Considering we'll never know how either would have done under normal conditions, this point is mute. In fact Murray woulda coulda shoulda won in straight sets without the wind. The wind cost him a set by harming his serve and forehand. Pretty basic reasoning.
I'm waiting for Del Potro to make a breakthrough at a Masters event first. As underrated as they are in the tennis world, he doesn't stand a chance at winning another slam until he takes a long overdue Masters title and proves his credentials at big titles against the best
Nadal and Djokovic fans seem to be in love each others, i don't know why.
Maybe because their dominance add some credit to their main argument: "Federer era was weak, Djokovic and Nadal are better". If Nadal lost in the past against Djokovic, it is because the serb is an all-time great, like Rafa, not like this weak-era swiss boss. At contrary, for Djokovic-fans, Nadal is important because he represent the big pride of Djokovic, he's the beautiful loser who is great but just a bit lesser than their god.
Murray can't be loved because he lose too often against Federer in the big stages. If Djokovic lose against Federer and Murray, it hurts this perfect circular argument: "Nadal and Djokovic can lose only against each others because they're THAT good." Therefore, if Nadal is not here, Djokovic has to win to preserve this ideal.

It`s hard to swallow that your favourite boy is lower in ranking that 31 year old guy. I think that if Fed were 25 now and really on peak of his play he would never be so hated. But even past his peak he is relevant - it hurts someone, IMO.
One major i'm sure he will never win is Wimby..but I definitely like his chances in RG even against Rafa..providing he plays his top tennis...he can blow anyone off court...that 09 US semi was a treat for me..
He's most likely going to play at least another 24 slams, no way that things don't line up and he doesn't win at least one of them.
