Has anyone here seen Rhyne play? He's only 16 (born on 3-22-1991) and the 10th ranked junior player in the world.

More impressive than that however, is that Rhyne is in the final of USA F16 Futures this week.

Hope to see Rhyne continue to get solid results on the pro tour.

Juniors: Following In Mother's Footsteps

Rhyne had a successful junior career peaking at No.8 on the ITF Ranking. Could have been higher if he wasn't mentally weak...hasn't change much apparently :smash:

Junior Orange Bowl 12s

Rhyne won the Jr Orange Bowl 14s defeating Grigor Dimitrov in the final. With the title, he joined his mother as an OB winner. Like mother, like son.

Early Success , Expectations, & Struggles

Rhyne won his first futures at 16 years and 3 months old, making him one of the youngest players to win a pro title. However, with early success, comes expectation. Rhyne struggled to cope with the pressure and his love for tennis declined. To renew his love for the game, he decided to take a detour from a pro career and spent 2 years playing tennis at the University of Tennessee (where his grandfather was a coach for 14 years).

Fun fact about his family:
It’s a huge tennis family legacy. In the 1970s, Williams’ grandfather DePalmer and Nick Bollettieri founded a tennis academy in Florida – largely inspired by the potential of young Michelle – and today it’s known as IMG Academy and boasts alumni ranging from Andre Agassi and Jim Courier to Serena and Venus Williams.

Michelle was an All-American at UT and rose to No. 92 in the world until a back injury aced her career at age 21. Rhyne’s father, Bob, played at Duke and still plays well enough to hit with Rhyne. Sister Jennifer played at Division I Birmingham-Southern College and sister Caitlyn is playing at UT now. Uncle Mike, who was Top 30 on the ATP Tour, was Boris Becker’s traveling coach. And cousin Christopher Williams, another former UT player and good friend, is Rhyne’s current coach.

Grand Slam Debuts: 2012 USO and 2013 Australian Open

Rhyne qualified for the 2012 USO, making his slam debut against Andy Roddick on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Rhyne won the 2013 Australian Open Wildcard Playoffs defeating Tim Smyczek in 4 sets and thus was granted a maindraw wildcard into the AO. Rhyne lost to No.25 Florian Mayer 6-2 6-3 2-6 6-7(14) 1-6 in his debut despite having several MPs.

And yes, Rhyne is no angel and will probably never be

ATP University in Miami

In this picture (courtesy of Jack Sock ;)), Rhyne appeared to be drinking pepsi and coffee. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a healthy diet. Rhyne is addicted to fast food (specifically chiptole, pizza, and is fond of 5 Guys) and loves his beer. He once told Kudla that if he wins the lottery, he will quit tennis and open a distillery with Sandgren. Let's hope they don't hit the jackpot any time soon.

If you are thinking "maybe that's hot tea". I highly doubt it as I have never seen hot tea in any of his breakfast pictures.

Personality

Off court, Rhyne is sociable and out-going. He likes to have fun and is not afraid of trying new cultural activities especially when it comes to food and sports. He gets along with most American players and also befriends several Aussies and Canadians, notably Peter Polansky and JP Smith (former Tennessee teammate). Rhyne is also good friend with several WTA peers including Ajla Tomljanović, Maria Sanchez, Julia Glushko, Olivia Rogowska, and Monica Puig. Rogowska once confessed to stalking him last summer, brave girl :worship:

When I first started following Rhyne on twitter, I was fascinated by his personality and conversations...mostly with his play on words. Half the time, I didn't understand what he was talking about.

Rhyne's favorite tv show is "Justified", so sometimes he would throw in random Raylan references. Raylan is the main character from the show.

Boca Raton, training

Rhyne currently trains at the USTA center in Boca Raton, FL. He shares an apartment with Tennys Sandgren. Rhyne practices regularly with Tennys and Chase Buchanan, and also hits frequently with Robby Ginepri. Rhyne's fitness coach is Gabriel Echevarria; he likes to joke that he and the rest of the gang are afraid of Echevarria.
