I think a young Lithuanian tennis player Laurynas Grigelis (born 14/08/1991) deserved his own thread. He has just won his first Futures title at the Great Britain F13 .
This year Laurynas made a real breakthrough jumping from 1560 to 600 in the ATP rankings.
His best results:
- Winner at the Great Britain F13
- Semifinal at the Italy F26 and Spain F22
- Quarterfinal at the Spain F21, Great Britain F9, France F18
- 2nd round at the Binghamton Challenger (beat Jerzy Janowicz).
Laurynas lives in Italy and trains at the Future Talent Brusaporto tennis centre in the province Bergamo. His coaches - William Rota and Roberto Manenti.
Pretty much he needs to find a way and develop some kind of consistent and reliable forehand...there is no way to survive on ATP tour without this shot I'm afraid. So far it's very shaky and breaks down in any elongated rally.
Thanks Dalx, I hope Laurynas plays a lot of matches in Challengers this year and can get experience and raise his strokes. In terms of ranking get close to Top 250 would be a good goal I think
What's up with Laurynas? Do you guys know where he is going to play next?
Oskaras Kalinauskas and another Lithuanian player Benas Majauskas played qualies in Israel F2, but both of them lost in the first round...
(well, I live very far away from the tournament so it's not like I could go and watch them anyway  )
To be honest I checked the tournaments in Spain and Germany but was too lazy to see if he's on the entry list of GB too Good luck to him, I hope he starts the year well.
Good win for Laurynas , Bolelli is a very irregular player, if he plays well I think Laurynas won't have chances, but if not Laurynas could have some possibilities
not only confidence, but ranking points wise too These indoor courts seem to favour his serve and attacking style - he could go very deep in this challenger and even win it
Now go and beat Bachinger. Then it will be my dream semi-final matchup. Mahut-Grigelis!
