I will be going for three days of qualifying. First time.

In 2009, I went for three days during the main event (1st & 2nd round) and found it to be way too crowded. It took forever to go from one outside court to another. Long queues of people wanting to get in.

Are qualifyng rounds well attended ?

Hopefully, it's nothing like the main event, crowd-wise !

US Open crowds are nothing compared to Wimbledon

Qualifying is very empty :) You will have no problem sitting wherever you like and moving to wherever else :)

montreal - qualies more attended than past but nothing like the regular tourney - friday likely has more than other days but still can get where you want easily

usually go from tues - fri - qualies will go to weekend if weather issues

some of bigger names practice especially on 2nd and 3rd biggest courts - rotate on the hour
meaning armstrong and grandstand

security should be interesting after boston marathon.

usually could bring small cooler bag with 1 strap - for plastic water and sandwich - we'll find out if that remains ok - as it wasn't in 2002

depends on whether mets are playing. they are home from 20-29th of aug except the 22nd
even if mets play at night that will affect parking for day. after the 29th they are on the road so that helps

you'll still be ok even if they're home just have to go further and they'll direct you

i'm assuming you're going day - at night still impacted by mets but i don't think they check to see if you have baseball ticket to see whether you can park in mets lot

the earlier you get there in any event the better

and if you have day tix can stay on grounds at night just not the big stadium. the 2nd stadium armstrong has some reerved seat close to court and also behind both baselines. 3rd stadium grand stand has best shade. also courts 11 and 13 can stay out of sun pretty well especially 13 under trees on the one side

when would Federer play the weekend of Aug 31-Sep 1?

Hi Guys,

I am visiting NY from Aug 30 - Sep 2. I would like to go watch Fed play, provided if he makes the 4th round. So, since he plays Monday, 2nd round would be on wed, 3rd round on Friday and 4th round Sunday. Is that right?

I can only go on Saturday or Sunday and so would greatly appreciate if you guys know how the scheduling works. Also, anyone selling a couple of tickets for Sunday, Sep 1?

Thanks!
Dinesh

Re: when would Federer play the weekend of Aug 31-Sep 1?

The first 2 rounds of the US Open are played on 5 days, Monday-Friday.

So, Federer will play his 3rd round match on Saturday. His 4th round match will be on Monday.

Re: when would Federer play the weekend of Aug 31-Sep 1?

and saturday could be day or night. day if they play 2 mens matches in day on ashe - if not could be night since him or rafa would be at night if they only play 1 on ashe in day.

although i could see them going 2 mens and no women in saturday day since the williams side is not playing saturday. problem there is which would play at around 11:30?
