Does anybody here make a living from betting on tennis matches?
How hard do you think it is if you know the sport really well?

I gave it a try and I bet $5 on each of:

Tipsarevic bt Huta Galung 1.38 Lost
Przysiezny bt De Voest 1.67 Lost
Lopez bt Dancevic 1.43 Lost
Brown bt Van Der Merwe 1.71 Lost
Kavcic bt Berrer 2.1 Lost
Bellucci bt Machado 2 sets to 0 1.8 Lost
Robredo bt Mello 1.3 Won

That leaves me $28.50 down from betting $35.
Never thought it would be this hard.

Well theres definately an opportunity to make a living, bookies make millions (billions?) due to 99% of people who bet. These are the people who chuck some money into an account, bet on their favourite (national) teams, and even if they win, they will keep betting until account = $0. The key is to analyse a bookies odds and see if they represent the true odds, if they don't you can capitilise and make a good bet. Eg if Djokovic is playing Isner, Djokovic will most likely win, however if odds are $1.03 vs $11 then obviously betting on Isner here is a profitable bet.

Betting on a site like Betfair will also greatly increase chances of winning (long term), this is because an even game here will have odds of $1.99 v $2.00 whereas some shitty sites will offer $1.87 v $1.87.

Yes in play betting is a very good idea, but it can also bite you on the ass sometimes. It's about always being open and willing with in play. Wait for your chances, and use in play when they come. Patience is the most important thing.

I would say EXPERIENCE is very important. You will most likely lose more than you win at the beginning. This is the simple truth. You will only understand HOW to bet in tennis after some experience. You'll understand how it's about conditions and match ups, you'll understand when the odds are good.

You'll understand how being impulsive will destroy you. And this is the problem for any gambler, it can be near impossible to not be impulsive.

And finally, don't gamble for a living. It's a terrible idea. You'll be bald in a month. Just gamble with a small sum. 99.9% of people who gamble for a living lose everything.

I have been gambling for close to 4 years now, and technically still down by $700, I have made a lot of money but I have lost a lot too indeed more than I won, I privilege myself as a guy who know a lot about this game and the player at the least more than the punters would do, but guess what sports betting is devised such a way that they will never lose money but gain money and we will lose money anyways, so don't even think of making a living out of it, its just not possible.

If you look at most sports betting sites they have made it clear its for recreational betting only, which means they will disqualify all your betting if they come to know you are a part of the bookie team.

I still do gambling coz its fun.

True. About 98% of the bettors or prefer using the word "gambler"s lose (according to one successful Finnish Betting bettor). I have been tipping in Ylikerroin.com few years. Well in profit. You have to learn to calculate probabilities to be successful. That is key. Pure mathematics. No intuition, mathematics.

99% of the gamblers indeed lose money, mainly because they don't know money management. There are some who win and some pros who make a living. There is a good source of free picks to make 20% yield long term, i posted their picks in the tennis betting section. Here is the link http://www.menstennisforums.com/396-tennis-betting-forum/916145-wimbledon-2017-a.html

Not only tennis but there are picks there in all sports with positive yield
