Making a thread on Bernard Tomic as he makes his junior Grand Slam debut at the 2007 aussie open.

Congrats Bernard, he has made major strides in the last two years. Some beleive he is ahead of Lleyton Hewitt at the same age.

I suspect him to turn pro in the next two years and be playing Davis Cup not long after.

I wonder how tomic played on clay the years before to see the improvement. Tomic will definitely be seeded for the french, i bet all my vcash on it, even though i don't have much. He was really consistent even though, he played agressive and his backhand had a lost more penetration than usual. He was also trying everything, serve and volley, smart ass drop shots, attacking the 2nd serve. You can tell Tomic's not used to clay by his defence, where his movement is exposed but a defensive slice somewhat compensates for his lack of movement. You can also tell his not used to clay by how many times he hits he shoes. It will be interesting to see how he goes against a clay courter next round.

Article after today's win on living in MC and off-court stuff:

Tomic said his notorious BMW, which he had been trying to sell, remains in Queensland as he focuses on a new life in Europe.

There is temptation, with the motor-mad teen living not far from a Maserati dealership in the VIP principality, but so far he has resisted the urge to buy a car.

"This is my new home," he said of Monte Carlo. "This is where I have to spend most of my time. Australia is too far to travel.
Car-crazed reputation follows Tomic to Monte Carlo

And another article with some comments from Rafter on Bernard: Time for Tomic to lift: Rafter

True what rafter has mentioned. Tomic needs to lift his game again and keep lifting. Hopefully he'll stay intent on Improving on clay and improving his mental side to his games :) btw dolgo's not that bad on clay. He made a final and won a tournament last year...
