Yesterday, I called my friend a mug and she was confused. Has this ever happened to you?

No, because it means mosquito in my language. Why would I call a friend that.

No, because in Croatian it's like a wizard. The word is not used widely though, and I only hear it every once in a long while.
So in the Netherlands it would be all right to call Ferrero a mug

'Wizard' has long accent, while mug short one, I doubt anyone would get any meaning from the word here

Yes. Many a time infact. We exchange insults by calling each other mugs.
Not a single fuk is given.

Because you said you and Olderer wouldn't have mug babies.
But think about it:
Mug + Mug = ____
Fill in the blank.
What do you expect to happen? 2 mug traits to cancel out?

If Mug is a dominant trait and they're both heterozygous then yes their baby could get the recessive allele from both and not be a mug

Being 14 is no excuse, I'm better than all of the other mugs here anyway.

No  But when my friends and I are discussing someone else who is an idiot, I have to catch myself from saying "What a mug!".

Not too unusual to call someone a mug.
At least in the states, it must have been very common at some point:
"On the Waterfront" came out in 1954.

I call my friends far worse things than mugs.
They do the same to me. It's called banter.

I once read the tennis thread of a non-tennis forum. As somebody used the word mug, I immediately knew that guy is a tennis expert.
