In honour of Marat's setting sail for horizons new, I hereby launch this thread!

11 June 2009, Naberezhnye Chelny, Tatarstan.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Traditional Gaelic blessing

He still looks good. It is unbelievable Marat still gets so much attention since he retired on this board! Marat fans are the best, and it also says something about Marat. His charisma apparantly made such a big impact on us. I miss him on the court, but also nice to follow a bit of him now off the court and see how he manages in the life after tennis.
Big love 4 him!

:wavey: Hi all - and welcome sunny777 :) - hope everybody's well and had a good summer.
Been lurking on and off for a few months owing to time constraints, but still carried on excavating
online for Marat pics. Some recent bits and pieces that I don't think have been posted yet, plus
a couple of "vintage" pics to start off.

Kremlin Cup 2006, the guy in the middle is Oleg Mannapov, a tennis coach/former player (coached by Mama Rausa).

Exquisitely perfect? Moi?

Marat playing footie at a golf club near Cannes, the article is dated 26 July 2010.

International Festival of Sports Cinema, Moscow, 29 July 2010. Guy in the middle is Vitaly Mutko, minister of Sport,
Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation. Some cute pics of Tarpi here too.

From an Italian wine blog (translation). In the comments, "THE GREAT SAFIN ... is true and was very kind."
Marat and lawyer Giuseppi Grammauta at l'Enoteca Marcucci, Pietrasanta, Tuscany, 12 August 2010.

 Those jeans look mighty familiar, looks like he's been wearing them since 2006 at least (see below pic),
if not before. Ralph Lauren pre-Wimbledon dinner, Froebel House, Roehampton, London, 21 June 2006.
L to R: Kristian Pless, Randy Lu, Ivo Heuberger, Marat and Tommy.

Actually Marat's anti-throwaway-fashionism is kind of adorable I find, not that he looks "derelicte", but that
he wears his clothes to the absolute limits of their utility and is evidently incapable of throwing anything away. :rolls:

From an article dated 19 August 2010, Marat at Smash Club, Cavalière, Provence/Côte d'Azur. According
to another article, Marat spent part of his summer with Gennady Timchenko (oligarch) who owns the club.

L to R: Timchenko, Patrice Hagelauer (used to coach Yannick Noah), Marat and Eric Taille, manager of the club.
I think IPP stands for "International Petroleum Products".

Monkey - you are the best and we have missed you!!

So good to see what he's been up too lately.... but um... was he wearing a red paid skirt in one of those pics??
....although Marat would look fabulous in a kilt - that's NOT him in the tartan skirt....Marat's hand and cigarette is visible on the left corner of the pic - he's wearing jeans and that grey T-shirt with the lungs motif.....(presumably its the lungs on the shirt that are absorbing the carcinogens from the ***....)
