Just saw a DY interview from Cinci where he said that Roger Smith is now part of his coaching team. Hopefully he sticks with Smith for awhile, at least until he re-establishes himself on tour.
Donald has a 0% chance of winning, but at least he will be on TV. He will extend his current losing streak to 2. I don't know if he will ever play enough ATP matches to get to 21 again, probably not.
Fed vs DY has been assigned the prime time Monday night match on Ashe Stadium. I predict Fed won't mess around with DY. 6-1,6-2,6-0. DY collects his 10 points and $23K for showing up.
DY's US Open will not end tonight, and no, I don't think he has any chance of beating Fed. (There is a greater chance of DY being triple bageled than of DY winning.) His 2012 US Open won't end tonight because he got a men's doubles wildcard (Nick Monroe as partner) and a mixed doubles wildcard (Vavara Lepchenko as partner). I know he played with Monroe several times in Challengers. I don't know how the mixed partnership happened. I thought a Sloane Stephens partnership would be more likely.
Check out this bad-ass slice overhead by Federer at :16. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=8308968) I'm surprised that shot doesn't come with a left-turn signal.
DY will lose 130 points from Bangkok. He is now #158 per Live Tennis Rankings. Furthermore, he still has 105 points to defend during the remainder of 2012. If he doesn't defend any, he will drop to around #210 by year end. Let's hope he can win a few matches.
DY plays Yuki Bhambri tomorrow in the Beijing Qualies. Bhambri has had a good year and has really risen in the rankings. DY will have to play well to win.
He is entered in Shanghai (qualies, wk of 10/8) and Vienna (main draw, wk of 10/15). I guess he will play them. After that, I agree he should play the last three US Challenger - Charlottesville, Knoxville, and Champaign.
Donald is in a very tough section of Shanghai Qualifying. He has Sergiy Stakhovsky and then alternate/Matosevic. Honestly, I have a hard time seeing him get through.
DYs battling right now. Just broke back, and then held to go up 2-1 in the 3rd. Would love to see him get another crack at Matosevic to see how things turn out now
When the 70 points fall off in the 10/15/12 rankings, DY will be around 185. Then he has 35 more points to defend in 2012. If he can't defend, his year-end ranking will be around 210.
I think he has to play the 3 US Challengers at the end of this year. However, there's no guarantee he will do well at that level. Those Challenger players will not lack in confidence against DY. Not that there's any bragging rights in beating DY anymore.
DY is entered in the Charlottesville Challenger, where he will encounter old rivals Sweeting, Levine, Russell, Reynolds, etc. He may also face off against young guns Johnson, Klahn, Sock, Williams, Sandgren, Kudla, and Kosakowski. It won't be easy either way.
