In an agreement with his coach, Riccardo Piatti, Novak Djokovic has decided not to play "Gemax Open 2006" from 13th February to 19th February 2006. After Davis Cup matches of Serbia and Montenegro in Israel this weekend, Nole is going to Marseille, where he will play in main draw if tournament organizers give him a wild card (hard courts, 489.000 €).
The first decision to play in Belgrade will directly deprive him playing on two ATP tournaments. He couldn't play in Marseille, and placement in the semifinal or final of Belgrade's event wouldn't permit him to play qualifying in Rotterdam.
Re: Nole has withdrawn from Marseille, plays challenger in Belgrade!
No, no, no! He won't have time for Marseille because next week he will play in Israel, and he then need to hurry up in Marseille to play qualifying! It's very difficult and Novak made a good decision!

But why didn`t Nole indict for both tournaments and than decide not to play in Maseille without asking for WC? They could give WC to Bozoljac or Troicki who have no ranking for beeing in MD.

it is a shame that Novak has done this, Ilija Bozoljac will not even be able to play qualifiers as he will be in Israel for the Davis Cup, Ilija is an exciting player and it is unfair to him as he was supposed to get the dc
