Endless Federer-Nadal debates

Roger Federer reached all four slam finals in 2007, Nadal reached 3 finals and a quarter final.

Roger won the prestigious Tennis Masters Cup. We will have to wait to see if Nadal can win the WTF.

Federer won 8 titles in 2007, including 3 grand slams.

Nadal won 3 grand slams in 2010, including the prestigious RG Wimbledon double. He also won 3 slams in a row.

Both players had interesting slam draws. Federer had to beat world number two Rafael Nadal in Wimbledon final, and a very on fire Djokovic in the US Open. Nadal had to beat Bird Itch in Wimbledon final and a very tired Djokovitch in Us Open final.

2007 was probably Federers least impressive 3 slam season, 2010 was Nadals best season so far one would have to think.

So who had a better season?

Discuss.
The floor is yours. Have at it.

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

Irrelevant argument. Phelps is a swimmer and more than 2 swimmers compete in relays. Olderer, Goldray, Massu, Gonzalez are all more successful Olympians than Nadal.
The question is NOT who is a more successful Olympian - the question is as SINGLES tennis players what do their Olympic medals mean to their career? Nadal has a golden career slam. Fed has a silver medal. Simple.

Nadal texted Murray to congratulate him after the win and said "Congrats, you won the hardest one." and he's right - things need to fall in place for you and Murray's lucky that it did.

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

Federer can't have every record, now.
And he clearly doesn't, doesn't mean we have to be silly, now. Using Nadal's injury forcing him to skip Olympics as something that increases his greatness is just

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

FACT fed n Murray are greater Olympians than rafole has hit a nerve in some.

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

I don't get why there is a special name for a Golden Career Slam but nothing for a WTF Career Slam. I guess the latter doesn't have a nice ring to it.
why are you just wasting energy on useless mtf tards cause this only could be dilemma on mtf lol

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

Well, maybe Olympics is more "prestigious" because of once every four years thing. But what does it say about Nadal that he is unable to win a less "prestigious" tournament (worth more points than everything else other than the slams btw) that is held EVERY year. And was actually able to make the finals only ONCE. There were a lot more chances for Nadal to win the WTF and yet he was unable to. I think that speaks more to everything above this "which is more prestigious" bullcrap.

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

For those who feel the Olympics are more prestigious because they are only held each four years - what is your take on Madrid on blue clay? That was - as it appears - once in a lifetime. So how big is that win, then?

Madrid on blue clay counts as 10 GS. Everybody knows that. :)

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

Nadull has always been bitter since Federer stole his thunder by winning Gold in 2008 doubles

no one cared about Nadal's singles match

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

Fed is, was and always will be considered greater, noone need have any delusions there, so I don't see why certain insecure Fed fans feel the need to delude themselves either. Fed didn't complete the Career Golden Slam, simple as that. And no, a doubles Gold doesn't count any more than a Gold in javelin would count or a Wimbledon doubles title. They each have achieved things the other hasn't, Nadal has his Gold and a hand in several Davis Cups and Fed has his WTF titles and far more Slams/time at #1. You can't expect a player to have EVERYTHING.

So, according to you, we should close and delete this thread. I agree. No point comparing a lion with a domestic kitten because that's the difference between RF and RN's achievements.

I see reading comprehension isn't your strong suit.
Oh, the irony.

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

Tennis is about winning titels not about a positive head to head. As Roger was in his prime and reached the US Open finals year after year Nadal was simply not there. Roger is also not to blame, that Nadal tends to lose against opponents Roger has not faced defeats in slams.
If Roger has profited from a weak aera Nadal surely has done it in the same way. Why was the Spaniard not able to beat prime Djokovic? It was Roger, who was able to defeat him, a man who is past his prime.
Nadal might not be the best match up for the Swiss, but this takes not a lot from his greatness.

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

Fumus is just a duck fanboy. Bitter for all these years. Just like tangy and star
He never used to be that bad but nowadays, he's copying all the parrots with the same old crap. If you can't beat 'em join 'em....

He's actually doing a heya with his 'federer gets owned, LOL' schtick

#949 ·
Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

Fumus is bitter because he hates Murray, check Wimbledin final thread and see him crowing about Muzza never winning anything

that Olympic gold butthurt him badly, he's blaming Fed

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

These rafole fan and fed haters lack originality. A 31 year old grandpa is sitting on the tennis throne , beat nadull in their most recent encounter and all they can come up with is nadull owns fed he he . That was so April 2008- jan 2009. Guys stop living in the past.
Well then I can also play that game Novak owns nadull . I mean only the past count.

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

Writing long essays won't change people's opinion on your bias. Ask Ash86. BTW, before trying to defend yourself do not slam players and whine as if they've taken your lolly when they lose a match. Be prepared for the consequences of your actions :p.

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

I am getting scared. Now Fumus is trying the CD tactic with the alcohol. Has CD hijacked his account. I knew Sparta cannot be kept down :scared:.

BTW, your arguments about fortunate and lucky are ridiculous. Nadull was not lucky when Djoko was 1.0 for most of their rivalry but Federer's lucky. Double standards and ridiculous logic galore.

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

Fed in 2008 lost to practically everyone , even his pigeons , a sure sign of physical and mental decline and why not he was almost 27 just past his PRIME.
So nadull was just an opputunistic player to take advantage of a declining federer.
Here is the difference , Novak took it away from PRIME nadull , nadull was losing no no one except NOVAK and he was 24 years old. Nadull is no bench mark for greatness off clay mate , to anyone including federer. He should win something first.

Maybe you missed it but Nadal has won the Golden Career Slam. You cannot win that when you are only good and can only win on clay.

Your hating is so pathetic

You're doing a very good job in representing the Fed fans, though :yeah:

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

I really can't understand this crap of Federer's wins are tainted because he didn't play nadal that fumus is going about.

Roger can only play who is on the other side of the net.... And he says this only regarding nadal... Why?! Because nadal is the guy that gives Roger more trouble?

That means that if murray, for example, won Wimbledon against Roger his victory would be tainted because he didn't play nadal?
Surely beating Roger doens't matter since he had at the time 8-7 H2H against Roger.

The falw with H2H's is simple. The people who hang on to this, and the weak era crap theory, are desperate to bring down Roger's legacy and achievements. Since they don't have a lot of arguments to start with (Roger's resume is near flawless) they pick up his H2H against nadal.

So according to this people if Roger had missed the 4 finals at RG, for example, his resume would be better given that the H2H would be less bad against nadal. So reaching only 1 final at RG would be better than reaching 5 finals....

The kind of stupidities some haters write is just . Never cease to amaze me. Guess when you have as much sucess as Roger has had it is invitable that some trolls will appear.

I as a fan and I guess Roger as well take all the slam "tainted" victories with no problem.

Just a question, what is the value of a tainted slam? 2 tainted slams = 1 regular slam!?
So Roger has 2 legitimate slams + 15 tainted (even though, for example, he just beat the world #1 and defending champion to win wimbledon but I guess #3 is more important) so that equals 9,5 normal slams. nadal is goat no question about it. :worship:

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

If we start tainting slam victories, Nadal's "fast" surface slam wins in 2010 would be so tainted, they'll create a black hole.
Cakewalk path to the USO final featuring two of his best mates, one of which was exhausted by another of his best mates over 5 sets.

Ferrer also fighting for 5 hours with Soderling the round before he was due to face him at Wimbledon. Talk about doing a job for the king. Wonder how much Tio Toni gave Pics for his work at those two tournaments.

this evilmindbulgaria must have the lowest IQ on MTF, quite a feat  :worship:
^^^^ An understatement.

Re: Endless Federer-Nadal debates (WTF vs Olympics)

evilmindbulgaria, It's fine then. You are satisified with nadal's 11 slams and the H2H against Roger. You are satisfied that ROger hasb't beaten nadal at a slam since 2007. I, and I guess most of Federer fans, are more than satisfied with 17 slams, 6 YEC championships, gold and silver medals and close to 300 weeks at #1.

So you keep your H2H that we keep the slam titles. ;)
