Great to see an Aussie victory last week when Matthew stopped the run of Jamie Baker. Athletic, fit and extremely personable I hope to see more great tennis from matthew heading into the Summer months

Ebden - a bit shaky, compared to last year, dropping out of the top 100 - but he does come off a high base compared to others. Performance picked up after clay courts with a title in Nottingham on grass - so have to give him a Pass.

Has earned 232 pts this year, with 276 still to defend, 65 pts before US Open cut-off, so I think he won't make the Main Draw cut, unless he has some good results.

Will be interesting to see how rest of the year pans out for him.

I'm going fail for Matt, too many bad losses for me this year. Has the potential to be top 100 easily but seems to go walkabout in to many matches.

Granted Matt is being marked harder than other players given he is playing on a higher level but I think he would admit that he would have expected better results than he has achieved this year. Tough draw vs Hewitt in Newport wont help him, when the grass suits his game and he could have snuck a good result.

Expected result, a pity for the Goochman.
Karlovic is in form, so if his serve is on, then Matt will struggle, but Matt does return well, so could frustrate Ivo.

A factor which may help Ebden is fatigue on Karlovic's part, having just rached the final and won the ATP event in Bogota.

As alluded to, Karlovic a bit fatigued after his Bogota win - Matt's luck as Karlovic retires after losing first set 2-6. Well done Matt in winning that set.
Matt plays another big server in the form of No.2 seed Kevin Anderson. Matt must be seeing the ball well after playing and beating both Gooch and Karlovic in consecutive matches, but Anderson will be fresh after having a bye in the first match. Hopefully Matt will be more used to the court conditions.
Go Matt

Good fight by Matt.
Serve stats dropped off as the match proceeded and Big Kev picked off his serve as that happened, due to the pressure no doubt

As expected Matt qualifies with a comprehensive 63 61 win over India's Saketh Myneni ATP263 (who beat Donald Young ATP155 the previous round).
Go Matt

Doesn't get the win, with a slow start, Matt loses first set 1-6, wins second 6-4 but loses steam in third set to go down 2-6 and bow out of qualifying.
